Hey all,
I cant find an RSTurbo forum that i like so i thought i would ask these fairly simple questions to al you guys that love my new Ka :D
1) Will using a CO2 kit on a chargecooler make much difference to temperatures? Or is it best used on a radiator? (i have access to a kit for free)
2) Will a Blitz/Apexi electronic boost controller work with the CVH turbo engine? Its running cossie management if that helps.
cheers guys
Shit yeah, nab it if it\'s free! When you say chargecooler do you mean like an air to water intercooler? In that case I suppose you\'d rig up the C02 rail on the heat exchanger down the front. Alternatively you could fill up your water reservoir with icecubes to really chill the air going into the engine.
An EBC should work fine on the CVH, doesn\'t it just tap into the pressure signal going to the wastegate actuator? How did you get the cossie management to work on the RST? I thought they had a really old-skool continuous injection system like the mk1 golf GTi? Or has it been fitted with electronic injectors and fuel rail from a cossie?
Cool,
yeah, most things on the engine are uprated.
I\'ll definately pic up the CO2 kit then, cheers. And from wativ herrd the Blitz EBC is he easest touse o pobabl get one of tose fitted too. Beats the 2 stage boost switch iahve on there now.
Post some pics mate, I\'m sure the \'powers that be\' won\'t mind! It\'s got a turbo afterall.
electronic boost controllers will work on any turbo car with a waste gate or actuator. (of which yours is Actuator) because it is not connected to the management it just controls the air that gets to the waste gate or actuator to control the boost but you wont be able to run less boost than the spring setting in your actuator. ie, if its a 7 psi (stock ford) actuator, you can run less no matter how low you wind it. You can only go up in boost.
Its a common conversion to put cossie management on a CVH, Virtually all injectors work the same way, its either open or closed, they can just open and close at very fast rate to meter the fuel acurately, management just tells it how many pulses to make as per boost/rpm etc. The injector opens and fuel goes in the engine.
As for CO2, as already stated, if its a chargecooler as oposed to an intercooler then you wont get as much benefit as you can only use it on the cooling radiator for the liquid in the charge cooler, one blast of co2 will not make much difference to the liquid in the system, but if its free, what the hell!
