Hi all, I know theres a big bit about flooding etc on the sticky but browsing through websites I cae me accross this and it does eem to work really well

I\'ve not had a problem with my car since I seen this.
Now, that makes sense! Why didnt I think of that?
But wont that mean the engine ramps down with no oil running to the seals?
as long as the engine is turning then so should the oil pump as its belt driven off the engine i think.
It shouldn\'t make any difference if the ignition is on or off.

If im wrong someone please shoot me
so as you turn it off you floor the gas, is this to fully open the inlet butterfly and allow any surplus gas to be sucked in, burnt off and sent out the exhaust?
Dave
Dave, part of what causes the flooding is fuel left on the parkplugs. Now, if you open the butterfly while the key is off, it will suck loads of air in. No fuel will be going in, cause the key is off - the injectors are off. Most of the unburnt fuel will be mixed with all the incoming air, and then pumped out the exhaust. Any thats left over will be very diluted, and will most likely evaporate.
The oil is controlled by a pump. The pump doesnt really "Pump" the oil into the Rotor chamber. There is a small nozzle that "experiences" a suction as the Rotor passes by it. This is really what gets the Oil into the housing. Without the pump running for 1 second (it is electric on the FD), I cant see it is going to make any difference!
Now, my worry might be: We now have less fuel on the sparkplugs, but we have oil still coming in. Maybe the plug would be covered in oil!
Still, I am going to give it a try.
