Title: boost problems!!!
Post by: McCARTHY on October 11, 2004, 02:01:46 PM
I did a long run to brighton last nigh and my car was fine im still running her in so the boost level is set to 0.55 jut to be on the safe side. This morning i droped me other half off at work and went the long way home coming off a set of traffic lights, at no great speed, and the boost just went off the guage, and its a bar ans a half guage.
My boost controller is the HKS EVC but because its not a new one HKS dont have the manual on line so i dont know how to re set it down. ive tried going between low and high settings but neither seem to do anything.
ive attached a pic so if anyoneknows which one it is please do let me know, and if anyone know how to set the boost levels on it even better.

many thanks

it s a shame your so far away otherwise did ask if i could come and copy it----- RX-7 and 1.8 bar boost dont go to well in my book, actually it goes like a rocket on speed but it cant be safe

I would imagine there is a rubber pipe going into the back of the unit, try that one.

Next follow the pipe under the dash, through the bulkhead into the engine bay. Make sure that no pipes have popped off the upper intake manifold, which does happen.

If the controller doesn\'t know what the current pressure is, the boost just goes through the roof, because it doesn\'t realise it should be cutting boost.

I have looked at the back of the EVC 4 and its electronic wires that come out the back into the engine bay, via a "plug" into the boost hks solinoid, from there three rubber hoses come out the bottom one to the external waste gate, on to the plenum and the other was conected aswell but i cant remember where!!!

i found a ite on the web that says how to re set the controller so im gonna give that ago once traffic dies down abit later and see what happens

if it dont work

"i\'ll be back"
Title: EVC Setup
Post by: Lesmon on October 11, 2004, 10:28:04 PM
I think that\'s an EVC IV. I have one exactly the same.
The setup instructions can be found here
http://www.hkseurope.com/ (http://www.hkseurope.com/)

Navigate to instructions (on the left hand column). You will need the EVC IV Setup instructions. THe EVC IV manual is the installation instructions.
