I had the Voodo installed so dont know how he did the install, but I do know that he had trouble with the speed sensor so left it, and it worked fine.

Im installing a VDO unit too, but the unit was used in my previous car.

The problem is this - VDO units have a built in memory.  If from new you never connect the speed sensor, they work fine. But if you connect the speed sensor once, the nav system remembers that it works using a speed sensor, and wont work correctly anymore unless a speed sensor is connected.

Ive contacted VDO who say there is no way to "wipe" the memory of the unit

I only connected the speed sensor in my last car by accident - it was a vauxhall that had been fitted from standard with a stereo that had a speed dependent volume control, and this meant that it automatically took a speed sensor to the din block.

Ah well, I guess I\'ll just have to keep trying!

If I remember correctly, its something to do with the wiring from the box, will ask the guy who did the install, he did find out in the end but I said as it works fine dont both with it. Glad I didnt now.
It was 2 years ago he did the install so he may not remember.
