Morning all, Just landed after 2 weeks in the usa, visiting Vegas, LA and San Diego. Had a great time, landed today hence sitting here trying to sleep but the body aint having it!
I was lucky enough to go to a car show in Chula Vista, Sand Diego and the yanks really know how to "pimp their rides", you see so many cars out there with huge chrome wheels, 20 or 22 inch wheels are very common, i have posted a few pictures for your enjoyment.
Also went to the Automotive Museum in San Diego, there are a few pics of some history.............. hopefully i might get to sleep by the time i finish posting them.
The first was a shelled FD 13b ready for the track
V spec
Honda S2000 with a nice vortech supercharger
these trucks are every where and so BIG......
i want one of these!
i couldnt see what size these rims where but i think they were about 24 or 26 inch if there is such a size.
a jag and a prowler................. nice
big bling!
win on these fruit machines and you win the car........ i didnt win:mad:
MMMMMM...................................... yes dear, of course it was the car the woman just got in the way!
they really take their show winning seriously...... I\'m sure they dont drive these things!
the only other rex there but it had a nice single turbo
.
hire car place.................. only in vegas!
dunno........... but it looked good!
bling
little old rolls royce with an incy wincy supercharger and over 2000 hp
for the animal lover out there............ here are a couple from San Diego Zoo. This place was fantastic. Words cannot describe how well this place is set up. All the enclosures are huge and open unless the animal is a really good climber, which means you can get a really good view. You can also feed a lot of them like this sea lion, I took this photo while my wife dropped fish (sold by the zoo) into its gob, more luck than judgement but i thought it was a really good photo!
Very nice indeed. Especially the pic with the sexy bird in it!!!:D
this guy was really friendly and would blow kisses at you through the glass!....... you might be able to see her mate in the back ground hiding under the cardboard.
last one unless you want more (i took over 500), the yanks seem to love fish and there are taks and aquariams everywhere. This is from Sea World in San Diego, you actually walk through the tank and the sharks swim all around you.
I know there are probably a few of you who dont agree with Zoo\'s and things like it, but they also do massive conservation projects and have kept a few species from extinction with captive breeding programs which cant be a bad thing. I would highly recomend both Vegas and San Diego to anyone who hasnt been.
Anyway enough of that, see you at the pod on sunday which should be good!
just one more, the view from our hotel room in vegas!
forgot the shark
Hey!
I just got back from Vegas too! Went with the intention of buying some new cheap bits for the car aswell as gambling.... But didn\'t really get round to leaving the casinos!
They do have some amazing cars over there though!
Mark.
Thanks for the pics Tony, you have a real good time out there.
( keep the car pics coming as they give us a bit of variety :)
The Monty Carlo is a NASCAR short oval car, sort of like a sprint car with clothes on !
cool :cool we need some of those hire car places over here :D
looks gr8 m8 can see u had a nice time try lots of hot milk or jsut go and get pissed the only 2 jetlag cuers :P
Great pix!
Did a road trip a few years ago - SF, LA, San Diego, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Vegas (baby!) and back to SF and it looks like you had as great a time as we did.
SD Zoo is really amasing!
Iain
the hire car we had was a chevy Montecarlo, 3.5 litre auto, but it was FWD so a bit dull and suprisingly lacking once got into second gear although the initial pull away was quite nippy. Still not good enough for a 3.5 litre. A BMW 535i i would leave it standing.
their drift club had a stand, of course, all 200 sx\'s. I did see a 240 sx. Dont think you get them over here, anyone know?.
some more hire cars..................., those poor cars must get thrashed. The only thing stopping me thrashing my car in the UK is the cost of petrol but over there its 2 dollars a gallon, thats currently less than 1.10 pound a GALLON!!! Its not fair!!!:(
