Title: throttle body size?
Post by: travellinbob on October 02, 2004, 03:47:01 PM
hi, just wondering how to calculate the diameter that your throttle body should be.
Hyperthetically speaking, say I had a 12a, to4, (fairly standard porting) and was aiming for roughly 250ish flywheel hp, what would the size need to be.
I have been reading alot about megasquirt ecu\'s lately and just need to fill in a few mental blanks.
 thanks.
by the way, does a megasquirt need to be set up on a dyno. I live on an island and this would be a hassle. I know that the same should be said for a carburetter.

Not sure about how you would work out the calculations on the throttle body, but as far as the megasquirt ECU, yes like most other aftermarket programmable ECU they should be setup on a set of rollers.

You should be able to get a base map, for idle and cruise but you would be better off using something like a microtech, as I am sure that base maps already exist for it and your configuration.

Hmmm, i had thought about the whole microtech route as I can pick up a realatively new one for very little. But as with all my stuff I was hankering after a  do it yourself  type twist to the tale.
