Hi all,
So it looks like i am actually gonna buy an FD. Just as well since i sent off my membership form with cash the other week. ( Guess you cant get all this advice for free, well you can but heh?)
Anyway i have been looking at 2 FD\'s. The 1st is on the site and is being sold by DS200! ( No Disrespect Dave!!!)

The 2nd is on Autotrader under this link.

Anyway what i want to know is your opinion on these cars. They are both within my budget (just) but i simply do not feel comfortable enough handing over cash, i just dont know enough about these cars.
Anyway look forward to you replies.
Cheers Guys
Stu
P.S. see you all at Santa Pod!!
:wave :wave :) :)
Hi,
The one in autotrader looks a good car - recent rebuild is always good and worth a good grand on the asking price of a higher-miler. Worth making sure it\'s from a reputable company as rebuilding a rotary is a specialist job.
A good service history is no replacement for getting the car thoroughly checked over by someone who knows rotaries - compression test as minimum in my opinion.
No offence, or slight intended to DS200 but getting rid of a car after such a short period of ownership rings alarm bells for me. Stated reason may be entirely genuine though - it\'s always buyer beware with cars!
Hope you find a good one!
Iain
The Autotrader car was bought through a company called Jap Village. Ring any bells? Also the rebuild was done by them as well.
Anyone heard of Jap Village?? Good / Bad?
From what I experienced of JapVillage car sales, all was good, but unless they sent the car to a specialist I woul\'nt trust their rebuild!!!
Having said that an equal number of people on here have had bad experiences with JV.
If in doubt walk away. As someone said recently; theres a glut of FD\'s on the market\' so basically its a buyers market, keep looking and you will see one you really want.
There may be a glut (not too convinced myself - how can you have a glut of a good thing?) but there\'s a dearth of good, clean cars. There seems to have been a number of people who\'ve had problems with recently acquired catr, maybe due to lack of car on purchase or just bad luck.
JV seem to be one of those places that polarises people\'s views - some love them, some hate them. Not sure why, ahven\'t used them myself. They do have some experience with FDs and the rotary in general. They built the \'Pink Panther\' (20b triple rotor engined car) - it\'s had it\'s problems though and might not be running at the moment, not sure if the problems were in the build or the tune for a combination of them both.
Knowing what I know now I\'d try to get hold of a car with a recent rebuild and the mods I\'m aiming for as it\'s cheaper that way!
Iain
Think i would go for Smokeys car, a lot of value in that one, if i hadnt just bought mine i would have had that! rebuild allready done, and all the extras too, i think its priced too low for all the car has, good luck Bob
That would be great but i dont think the insurance man would be to impressed with all those mods.
Really im after a standard FD ( or as near as poss)
Japvillage is not in business anymore as far as I know
so don\'t expect a warranty or comeback
