Admiral just called me about a quote I put thro on the confused.com website. At that time they came back and said they couldn\'t do it as an import.
They called today to see if they could help as a courtsey call and quoted me £769 fully comp for a standard jap import and each mod (upto around about 3 mods) would cost about an extra 5% depening on mod!
I\'m 24 with 5 years NCB. Quite bizarre because I spoke with Elephant the sister company a few weeks back and they came back with £1350ish.
Now i\'m unsure what to do. Was going to go classic fully comp for the rex and insure my girlfriends car under my name as fully comp to keep bumping up my NCB (i\'m already on her insurance as she needs me to be as she hasn\'t passed her test yet so she needs an experienced driver on her insurance) but if I went this way, i\'d have a fully comp rx7 that I can park anywhere and my NCB would be bumped up.
The cost of classic insurance is £426 plus the pug fully comp at about £250 making it £676 all in. I would need to keep the car (rx7) on my raised drive infront of my house and it would be a bit of a pain (but would do if necessary) to park there each time I drive her.
To get the raised bit lowered down and be less of a pain will cost circa £200-300 inc skip to remove the concrete. All in all I guestimate about £800-900 to insure both plus leveling the concrete.
If I go with Admiral, my NCB will increase and I won\'t have to level the ground. Also, I could drive as many miles as I like unlike the classic which is set at 3000 miles.
What should I do?
Make damned sure that the Admiral quote is REALLY for an import. check all the blurb in the quotation with a fine tooth comb and if it\'s all in order, go for the Admiral quote (unless the classic policy includes a guaranteed agreed value - in which case go for the Classic policy)
that\'s my 2ps worth!
Definatley for an import as I said from the off its an import so I doubt you\'ll be able to quote because of my age.
He then came back with the figure and AGAIN I questioned him and said are you SURE this for the import and he said yep, no problems :D
admiral also don\'t cover ANY engine mods (as don\'t elephant) bloody useless on our cars :(
Thats ok for me as I struggled to get RX7 insurance, let alone modded RX7 insurance :D
theyre ok with ecu and exhausts, but ive asked about intercooler/turbos/suspension and they didnt want to know. Also insured me for bodykit/wheels and after a bit of haggling bonnet.
Prob one of them companies where it depends who you speak to.
I had the same thing regarding elephant, was with them, got a renewal through for over double the price, then went to admiral and got a cheaper quote than original
they told me they wouldn\'t even cover an induction kit - thought bugger that :)
speaking of which mines up for renewal in october.. see wha I get this year *fingers x\'d*
incidently elephant did the same to me, they wanted £2900 renewal.. bwhahah :D
Just checked online on the quote they did for me. Its definatley an import - the detail state "import" in bracket beside where they detail the model.
Furthermore, fine tuning a few details online, has got the quote to £716 protected, £663 not protected or £586 on their bonus accelerator. I think thats made my mind up on that!!!!!
Admiral it is then :D
Q - is the bonus acclerator much cop?
