Hi guys,
Just looking for a little advice. My Brother is looking at getting an FD soon, and the one that he REALLY wants right now is a 1995 Type-R. Neither he nor I have ever sat in an RX7 though, and we are slightly concerned about leg room . My Brother is at least 6\' 5" tall, and it was a real pain trying to find a car that he could fit into last time round (ended up with an MG ZR). He can fit in my Supra TT with no probs, but I suspect the FD is going to be smaller?
Does anyone tall on here drive an RX7 without problems? I\'ve heard that the versions with no rear seats may have slightly more leg room?
Is there anyone in the Ascot, Windlesham, Chertsey etc area that wouldn\'t mind letting my brother have a little sit in an RX7 before travelling hundreds of miles to see the one he wants ;)
Cheers guys,
James :cool

there are a bit tight & i was a bit miffed when i sat in one, i\'m 6\'1 with most of that being legs in a lanky stylee

lol, with a standard wheel as i didn\'t fit so good but mine is much better with it\'s current smaller momo wheel.
The UK car has better seat rails which allow you to go all the way back to the bins, you can get these rails from any mazda dealer or such like although they are into the triple figures as i recall when i inquired but many have modded their jap rails so they can also go all the way back to give a couple more inches described to me & i posted on this thread:

there are a few large folks on here using them thou dont let him get put off too easily.......best bet is defo to have a sit in one with either UK or modified rails &/or smaller wheel to see how he\'d fit....i have yet to do the rails yet will probably do it in the winter when i\'m off the road incase anything goes tits up when i\'m doing it but yer welcome to have a test fit at the shows next Sunday or pod the week after but sounds like yer in more of a rush so hopefully some1 local can assist.....
Si
6\'1" here and comfy with momo wheel as Si says.
Tallest person I can think of with one of these is Ric (peace2make). Aint\' got the measuring tape out on him ;) but at a guess I\'d say he\'s probably about the same height as yer bro. hopefully he\'ll see this thread, but he does manage so there are ways.
Cool ... thanks guys :D
I guess all we can do is get him to sit in one and see how it goes. We do also have a TVR Chimaera, and that\'s not exactly spacious in there. I\'ll get him to have a sit in that too .... I can\'t imagine an RX7 being much smaller than that!
I think the car that he is really interested in has the rear \'seats\' though ... so I guess it may be slightly harder to get the 2 seater runners in there?
Cheers, J :D

Don\'t think that will actually make any difference, but even if it does you can always find someone with bins and do a trade for seats. been done a few times and not a tricky swap as I understand it.
Try doing a search on this, as I know it came up a couple of weeks ago.

tis true - I am a big man :p
I\'ve got stock seats and a momo steering wheel and I can fit in the FD ok. Only problem I find is that I don\'t have enough space to "heel and toe".
Mine used to be a 2+2 RS model but I\'ve swapped the rear seats for bins and am planning to get the seat runners adjusted at some point to give me a bit more leg space.
I did have to recline my seat a bit more when I had a lid on at Silverstone but it still wasn\'t too bad. I\'ve sat in a couple of FDs with aftermarket seats and some give you a bit more room. You might struggle with a larger stock steering wheel though.
Cool ... thanks guys.
Heh heh ... the one he is looking at has an aftermarket steering wheel on at the mo already. BUT .... he wants the original back on there with the airbag (to keep my Mum happy  ).
