Hi Guys
My FD is completely standard at present had it around six weeks and obviously the usual urge to add things and change things can\'t be suppressed.
I have already bought a Turbo Timer and a HKS superflow induction kit neither of which are fitted.
I intend at a later date to change the exhuast and possibly get the engine ported when rebuild time comes
Will the ecu run fine with an induction kit and exhaust change and at what point of modifying does the Ecu require changing as i assume it does as so many seem to have done it.
Just wonder if its best to get one while have some notes or whether its best to wait till it needs one.
Hope someone can advise.
Thanks

cat back exhausts + filters are usually okay but if you go for something like downpipe + mid pipe then you should really have an ECU on their but its not really nessasary just safer to do so.

Pre 16 bit ECU cars (pre 1996?) have issues controlling the bost with anything more than two mods. So you *could* get away with the air filters and back box, but I would say that if you swapped out the air filters and cat, you could have prolems.
Post 1996 cars (16 bit ECU\'s) are better albe to deal with these mods.
If you are looking at doing some porting when it comes around to rebuild time, I would recommend getting the Apexi PFC, Microtech or Haltech ECU first.

My car is a 93\'. I am assuming from the feedback that the filter change will be fine. But that if i get it ported the Apexi or similar ecu will definately be required.
Thanks for the help guys.
Hi!
Once rebuild time comes and you\'ve had it ported you\'ll need the de-cat and ECU to see any real benefit of the porting (plus it\'ll sound sweet!).
Worth gettting the ECU done early to spread the cost (and may as well de-cat then as it\'s quite a cheap mod). This will save £s for some things you may not initially plan at rebuild time like an uprated clutch - once the power starts rising the standard clutch won\'t cope well at all (somewhere over 320 fwhp I think). Getting the clutch done while the engine\'s out saves on labour!
