Title: Oil pressure guage going crazy!
Post by: ScuttleRX on September 23, 2004, 04:31:37 PM
You can just about tell what its showing, but it flickers fast down to 0 then back up, over and over.

Is this a common prob, i\'ve heard that these guages arent exactly renowned for their accuracy or reliability, any ideas what the prob could be?

cheers

Andy

yeah its never been brill :)  but has gone into overdrive now:D.

Do you reckon theres anyway to uprate it a bit, run out of room for aftermarket gauges  :) . I know theres that fix you can do to the water temp gauge, wondered if theres something similar for the pressure

The stock preure sensors are as said, CRAP....

They get bunged up with crud, and suffer from cable issues.

Best to get yourself an aftermarket sensor and gauge.

can you not just clean out the sensor and run a new signal wire ?

The comments I have seen of people doing this, is that the problem comes back after a little while.
