HI all
I got my gauges some time ago and had the fitted at a garage last week. They plumbed the sensors in and wired it up, but when it came to turn on they didnt work.
The garage told me that they wired them in correctly and came to the conclusion that the control unit 2 is faulty, however i sent the old one back and tryed it with a new control box and the same is happening.
This is wot happens when everything is connected
1) Turn on ignition and gauge lights up (NO OPENING SEQUENCE)
2) Turn the engine on and the warning LED and peak LED FLASH at the same time. ON OFF ON OFF ON ECT.......
Ive also so dissconnected each gauge and tryed just one at a time.
Ive checked the sensor plug are connected properly also.
At the moment im not sure wot to do.
Scott.
sounds like they aren\'t wired in properly, shouldn\'t the garage that fitted them be sorting it out ?
does it mention anything about the LED\'s flashing in the manual ? i.e an error code.
I though the connection from control - guage was only a single wire anyway.
It is a single wire daisy chain.
Ive even checked the wiring my self (NOT HARD TO DO) with a multimeter and every thing is a ok.
Just spoken to the guy were i got the gauges from and it looks like they mite? have a faulty batch?
Sorting me out another from the same batch and if that doesnt work im going to wait for the next batch of controllers off them!
:( :reallymad
scott.
(the fault does not correspond to the manual).
have you checked the other inputs to the controller? Power supply?
If you don\'t get the opening sequence it would make sense that the problem is with the controller and not the guages themselves.
Yep, checked with a multimeter.
It does point to the conntroller, its abit annoying that they dont work but all good things come to those who wait.
sent the second controller back today receive number 3 on sat maybe? proberbly Monday! :reallymad

am waiting on my Defi\'s from the US (couldn\'t get Water temp from Scoobymania) so keen to see how you get on.
Is there a permanent power supply in adition to the switched supply? If so were these defo wired the right way round?
Another thought would be to check that the power isn\'t being disrupted by ignition? does the opening sequence work if you just turn the key to acc but not start the engine?
have you checked the earth, If they have wired up the earth side to a +12v by mistake because its dead with the igntion off but becomes live when its on you will get all sorts of odd things happening (e.g a PD when the ignition is off and 0v PD when its on) been there and made that mistake :) best to run a seperate earth down to the bodywork.
it also pays to check with a test bulb or light when working with cars as voltmeters can play funny tricks becdause they don\'t require hardly any current to flow to measure a PD
Yep, their is a permanent power supply, a swiched power supply, a illumiation power supply and a earth.
All of which are connected to the correct supply (checked again and again).
The earth is connected to the body not the battery terminal.
The opening sequence does not work altogether but the end sequence does.
I\'l let you all know how i get on when i get my 3rd controller :(

just got a phone call off the guy who is dealing with the returned control units, he said that he has tryed both broken units on their demo car and the start up sequence works for him.
He\'s sending a new one in the post as promised but he doesnt think there is a problem with their units more like my wiring.
The only thing i can think of is that the illumination wire and power is connected to the fog light and before the gauges were fitted the dash fog warning light would not illuminate but the fog light itsself was ok!
does anybody think this is related? Maybe a short?
This is really annoying having spent £785 on somthing that doesnt work! :reallymad
Scott.
the foglight will only operate on dipped beam/sidelights ... maybe thats the problem ?
try taking the power feeds from somewhere else, the radio is usually convinient for testing stuff

There\'s a lamp on the dash for the foglight?
FINALLY THEY ARE WORKING!!!!
Got the new control box last night, plugged it in and..........nothing!:reallymad
So i tryed wiring them in myself and they are working. :)
One thing that annoyed me is the water temp gauge doesnt work how i wanted it to. I asked for it to work straight away not after the thermostate had opened. So i get a spike reading when its warming up! (shows nothing for 5mins then all of a sudden its reading 80c.)
Scott.
heres a pic of them! :)
