Title: FD3S going cheap cheap cheap
Post by: andyrose on September 21, 2004, 11:02:19 AM
just testing water to see if anyone is interested before i take pics and offer to the general public.................

1993 FD3S Type R, milage unknown as yet, standard except for large bore tail pipe and 17" rims (make tbc)
colour is black, manual.

this car was running but was very lumpy and rough, it did not emit any excessive smoke according to the owner.
small items have been removed, mainly a few vac pipes and solenoids for other cars, i can obtain a full list of shortages.

the owner wants £2.5k let me know if interested.

you know you want it!
wait till iv\'e got more details, i have been telling the guy who owns it that without an MOT or some kind of assurance with the engine it aint worth bugger all and I mean bugger all.
I think with a bit of haggling this is gonna go for less than £1500
I have no interest in making a cut (i just want the Blitz Dump Valve and rear parcel shelf - free to me if i find a buyer)

Stu, if you got it for £1250 you could have it running for under £4k!

basic rebuild would be about £2250 (if you removed & re-installed engine it would be even less!) You could possibly wind up with the cheapest running FD in the club!!!

a little un related but I thought I might just tell the world at the decent deal I got on mines

1992 RX7 Type R.

It has recently been resprayed as the lacquer was peeling,

It has Mazda speed split rim alloys with 225/45/17 and 265/40/17 tyres.

Coilover suspension,

Driilled and grooved discs,

Two dump valves.

It was fitted with a new engine and clutch 10000 miles ago.

It has a full stainless steel exhaust

It has a Toad a606i alarm immobilizer (cat 1)

The interior has been trimmed in cream leather with red piping, and all the plastics are colour coded.

Multi-Glow Dials

Air Con (just been regassed)

Electric windows, mirrors

Power Steering

Only faults are electric aerial won\'t go down and sometimes the passenger window won\'t go down (been told it just needs a new switch)

All for only £5400.00

Got it 3 weeks ago, only problems I\'ve had have been the intercooler pipe popping off  and a few of the vac lines popping off. Also one of the check valves is a goner but I\'ve only had to spend about £3  getting it up to scratch! Interior needs some tidying up - but not bad for a 13 year old car!

I reckon - good deal!

Just happened to look at ebay at the right time. It\'s great - as the guy didn\'t know much bout cars everything recently had been done by the local garage. (hyeline in cardiff)

Just got an oil and coolant change to do then we\'ll see where we stand.

Title: final details
Post by: andyrose on November 03, 2004, 08:42:27 AM
ok here we go,
chassis number FD3S10 something (shows its an early car)
Colour : Black
Rear seats, air con, manual, std wheels, Kusamu? tail pipe
Not been SVA\'d
Milage : no battery but been told 60k
Basically standard

Missing bits:
Head lamp covers, passenger side door and sill (removed to repair a damaged car) small crack on dashboard, induction kit.

Car was running before being put into storage, bits then removed to repair other cars. the owner was offered all the bits to repair for £150.00 from a breaker.

I have told him that without a running engine you can assume the worst so he is open to offers. this has not been advertised anywhere else as yet.

Location : Peterborough

thanks andy - so there is no passenger door - ekk thats scary :)

you mention that there is no sill - i dont understand this at all ?? - has it been cut out and needs welding back in ???

you say that some pipes and selaniods were removed - any ideas which ones and where they went ?!?!?!?

Not SVA\'d - does it need one ?? - has it ever been registered in the UK ?

still interested in it though - and now we know the extent of this i will offer him ..... you have PM

thanks

the owner sold a red FD3S to a local window cleaner (funnily enough in the same village as me) did the usual rear end out and ****ted a lamp post on the passenger side. Finance co sold it back to the seller who then cut the sill and removed the door from the black one to repair.
The sill has been cut approx 4" back from the bottom of the A post all the way back including 1/4 of the rear arch.
All pipes and solenoids back on, never been uk registered and was told that due to it being over ten years old it don\'t need an SVA (not sure how true this is)

It would not need a Type approval (SVA)

Thats for certain.

If anyone is buying to break. I\'ll have the seats! :D
