starting to get a few things for my week old car already, one of which is a dump valve, seen a few that look promising but what do people have fitted / recommend???
i\'m getting my fd in about 10 days time. i\'m getting a blitz super sound bov as i\'ve heard the build quality is good and there pretty loud. also heard the hks one is quite good not very loud though but it all personal choice.
hi mate
yeah saw a few of those today not chreap like at £260, look ok but think i want an apexi one, a guy i saaw had one on and you can adjust the noise it makes (I dont want it just for that :)) plus apexi gear is quite well respected !!
How old are you ?? / how many years NCB??
im 29 m8, got 5 years ncb almost 6. so insurance should\'nt be too bad. i hope!!!!!!!
Well as a guide im 22 with 4 years ncb and i pay £1400 TPFT on a car valued at £5000!!! i thought that was quite a good price considering my age and the car it is !!:)

iv got a hks bov on mine came with the car sounds w*nk not loud at all only inside the car but does its job very well compared to my bros blitz on his supra sounds mint but doesnt work as well as mine?!
Bought a Blitz via Ebay for £112 delivered, bit sticky, I need time to adjust it and sort the piping before I\'m happy, will report back then.
Some don\'t like the Blitz as it is thought they not only stick but leak a little air too......
hmmm intresting as i was thinking of getting one too:rolleyes: are they easy too install/setup ? and can it go on the standard piping for a FD3s?
cant you tell im new at this game :rollin
Also are the dumpvales the same as a blow off valve:confused:
Simple to install, the noise can be varied by adjusting a nut, yet to do that.
Went out in the car for the first time in 4 weeks last night, started like a peach, dump valve got continually louder as the journey went on, really quite pleased with it now. Will try adjusting it at the weekend.
The Blitz BOV (yes, a dump valve and a Blow Off Valve are the same thing) came with a pipe to fit it where the existing BOV was, quite a simple fitting really, PM me if you want to see pictures.
There are also several threads on this forum about fitting BOVs.
Mart.
Stock valves removed. ;)
Apexi noise maker fitted. :D

how do you adjust them i dint even know u could! i wana make mine really loud sum serious high pitches phhhhsscachingssssss if u listen to the surpa in fast and furious i think the metalic kind of bov sound is really nice, propa blingy if u get wat i mean, quik metalic pssssshhhhhcachin kinda thing goin on...

The Blitz BOV is adjusted by turning the nut on the top I\'ve been led to believe. At the moment it is making a bit of a hollow sound so we\'ll see what other tunes it can conjure up this weekend.
so what is the out come here? and where would you suggest getting one from?
and where abouts does it go on the engine?:o
they can go anywhere in the engine bay as long as theres space for it, most people put them in the top left corner thats where mine is. u can get one from any decent performance store, nemesis are good and pretty competetive giv them a call.
so mart is the nut specifically for the sound then or does it adjust performance aswell?
AFAIK (and bear in mind I\'m passing on third hand info myself), the nut can be tightened or loosened to adjust the pressure on the spring. This in turn will let the BOV let out air at a slightly different time and pressure and thus sound ?? Not too sure, will find out when I play this weekend !!! I touched the nut before and (probably due to the BOV not being used in some time) I don\'t think the spring inside moved with it !! Probably needs lubricating.
Just spent 3 hours surfing Ebay US, SO many cheap bits and bobs there to be bought.
Mart.
so howd the tuning go at the wknd then mart made any major changes???? i still dont know wat iv done cos i cant turn mine on yet!!:(
Can\'t turn it on ?
Nah, I was a bit slack this weekend, and what with travelling 240 miles each way Durham to Milton Keynes and then a wedding to go to I got squit done on the car, enjoyed the drive though. Tailed at 360 Modena down the M18 at some silly speed. Think I averaged about 23mpg for the journey down too, can\'t be bad.
Will be going to MK again on Saturday morning and then I\'ll be playing with the BOV, putting on the new numberplate, giving her a damn good polish, etc..., so that she\'s looking resplendent for Sunday at the Pod.
Mart.

There may be other RWYB days at the Pod this year but this is the last Jap Show. It\'s only £12 on the day, but I think that\'s per person (never used to be) !!
Good luck getting the car back to how it was.
