Title: Water injection system, yes or no
Post by: Laeeq on September 18, 2004, 11:58:31 AM
Hi all,

I have a single turbo motor, running 0.78 boost.   I want to take this to 1 bar safely as possible.

Is it ok to install water injection system in first and run her as cool as possible then play with PFC and increase the boost?

Is it fairely easy to install?  What will be the best setting for the water system to kick in; with boost, rev, or speed etc?

is it safe to run with water injection system?
The car has all the mods it needs to run higher boost but im just scared of poping the engine if ran too lean.

I will be greatfull for your help and advice.

Thanks

Laeeq, YES YES YES water injection is safe.

There are a few people already running it with good results. Mine is to be fitted as soon as I find a tank that I like. ;)

I would set it to come on at 6psi (.5bar) and inject from there on. Getting the injector size correct takes work and time, but ERL seem to recommend using a .9 or 1mm jet with their kits.

ERL (http://www.aquamist.co.uk) charge 324.11 inc. VAT  for the basic 1s system which is boost activated, after that the price goes up. Price List (http://www.aquamist.co.uk/sl/plist/frm-4.html)

There are other kits on the market, which I cannot comment on due to not using them.

thats a lot of £££\'s for what is basically a 12v pump a pressure switch and a jet. Does it do more than just that ? eg. boost cut when the water runs out ?

Thanks for your reply.

I got mine from Dragon (Ross) for around £300.  Ross used that same system on his demo car and recommended to me.

I really don\'t wanna spend extra on FMIC to run lower intake temps as i already have Trust IC in stock position.  The water injection may do the trick and intake temps can come down.

Currently the water temps stay between 76--83 even with hard driving and air temps stay below 30 but goes up when in traffic.
