Title: Cutting out
Post by: dturpin on September 15, 2004, 05:34:09 PM
I have got a 1992 FD, and had some problems with it cutting out about 3-4 months ago, so I tested the fuel pump by linking it out on the diagnosis plug, so that it would come on as soon as the ignition is turned on, it wasn\'t coming on all the time, but when it didn\'y come on there was still 12v at the plug on the pump.  So I replaced the fuel pump with a second hand one (as a new one from mazda is £400+), and it seemed to have solved the problem.
But over the last two weeks the car has started to cut out on me again, it mainly seems to be happening when I boot it and the second turbo is about to kick in, but instead it just stops and the engine dies like it has stalled.
Has anyone gopt any ideas
Could it be the fuel pump again?
If so is there any reason why the pump would fail like that?
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am losing valueable driving time.
Who would be the best specailist to take it to, I live near Peterborough.
