Title: Best rebuild price
Post by: WeasleRx7 on September 14, 2004, 07:30:45 PM
The Rex has been sitting on my neighbours drive for a whole 6 months now (bless her (and my neighbour)), never been driven in the UK.  The time has now come for the engine rebuild.  :)

Now who to go to?  I will remove and refit the engine myself, and deliver/collect it.  I\'m looking for a standard engine, but if the price is favourable I wouldn\'t say no to a few more bhp.

Specialists and other MRC members... help make me a happy man! :D

You wont get a firm answer.  Everyone has a preferance, and Ive heard bad things about every single tuner there is.

Best to do is to talk to a few of them, see what they offer and make your mind up from there.

I guess the closest ones to you would be Dragon or WGT but me geography is crap :D

Now I know everyone wants something for nothing, and I\'m no different!  So I\'m looking for the best price (read as... cheapest) I can get for this first build.  A running car is my priority over lots more power.  Isn\'t anyone having a sale at the moment?!?! :p

I did get a call from Carl Hayward today, nice sounding chap full of excellent advice, and a reasonable quote (read as... more than available on my credit card).  Just waiting for Pip and Geoff to get back to me now.

afaik it\'s quite hard to give a price as far as I\'m aware it\'s based on the bits that need replacing (could be a lot of things)

Personally if I ever have to do one i\'d go by reputation (done a good job in the past??), comeback (what if it goes pop after 1000 miles?), distance to travel (what\'s the point in paying £100 less when you have to travel 200 miles more) and time it takes.

Yeah I know what you\'re saying.  I\'ve just been doing the searches for similar threads, and got all the same answers.

While I\'m here, has anyone got the instrument cover on top of the dash for sale, as mine is missing?
