Title: Low Secondary Boost
Post by: rxangus on September 13, 2004, 12:41:45 PM
Hi All,

Can anyone shed light on the following?

My boost pattern is 10-7-10(7) ie after the transition it recovers to 10psi momentarily then drops to 7psi and holds to redline.

I have all new solenoids and have removed the cat but no difference.

Any ideas?

Ta

Angus

I had a very similar problem that I only noticed when I fitted a boost gauge (doh). On mine, two solenoids (turbo pre-control and wastegate) had been swapped over. They are the two next to each other under the plastic pressure tank at the front of the engine. Apparently this is a common problem as some workshop manuals describe them the wrong way round - one has a white dot on it and should be on the right (looking at the car from the front), but the manual said the other way round.

See here (http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/TurboTroubleshooting.htm) for some good turbo boost issue stuff. See "Other stuff" on this page about 2/3 the way down.

Hope this helps.

Angus has recently had a new solenoid rack fitted by WGT so it should be fine.

Angus, my car is going into "the-garage" on the 24th. When I called marc he told me he has had 3 cars recently with the same problem. He thinks it is something else. I\'ll let you know how I get on in the next few weeks.
