Title: buying an rx7
Post by: hmltnangel on September 11, 2004, 05:24:02 PM
hi folks, planning to get me an rx7 soon, was thinkin of an automatic .... whats the general opinion on them and any questions I should be asking the owner? Aparently it has had the rotary tips done at 60k which i\'m told is a good thing? What else should I beware of? What do you reckon I dshould pay for a 1993 L reg auto with the tips done at 60 k - it has now done 62 k in black and from what I can see of it its in excellent condition.

cheers
Dale

an auto should be quite a good buy, they tend to have had an easier life than manual cars + they cost less as they are less desireable than the manual versions. If it doesn\'t bother you I say go for it and grab a bargain :)

Hi

The first thing I look at when ppl post these sorts of questions is their profile because the most important thing to consider is age relating to insurance.

Being under 25 have you looked into isurance, if not you could be in for a shock.

As for any specific car I\'d pay to have a rotary specialist carry out an examination and get written report.

May cost you a few bob but save you a lot more in the long run.

Good luck

John

I agree with mike on the auto.... deffo worth a look.

I went to buy a crx without realising it was an auto, got there and thought ...sod it i\'ll drive it and see....what a suprise....i couldnt believe how good it was to drive.

Dont let the auto put you off, give it a drive and see for yourself, you WILL be pleasently suprised!

well, i\'m 23 - one years no claims - 3 accidents in the last 3 years (only 1 was my fault) and an sp30 and do you know elephant only want 978bucks! now thats a good insurance deal if ever I saw one!!!!

I\'m really tempted with the auto. can anyone recommend a good reliable person to check the car over?  probably near southampton as the car I like is there.

What difference in performance is ther?

£978 take it its not an impoort then? Or if it is an import you told them it wasn\'t?

try another quote and you will find out how expensive they are to insure. As above if that quote wasn\'t for an import your going to be a bit stuck as UK cars are rare and they never sold auto\'s in the UK

Im 24 with 3ync getting insured on a 1995, 5000mile limit fully comp and the best quote Ive had is £1800.

Have you gone 3rd party and said the car was worth about £5000.
