Title: Minimum mods for 325whp?
Post by: chrisBoid on September 06, 2004, 08:22:53 AM
The upgraded components: -

* Downpipe
* Performance cat.
* Exhaust
* Performance intake
* Fuel pump
* ECU (and mapping)
* SMIC
* Various hard pipes

With doing the above, is 325whp achievable (on an otherwise stock 96 FD) and will it last?

Thanks.

Chris.

Won\'t you need uprated secondary injectors for that sort of power too?

If you mean 325rwhp then I\'d say no

Yep, I mean rwhp.

I was dubious about these figures too, claimed by Rotary Performance: -

That thread of the guy in Oz running lots of stock items got me thinking what was achievable, obviously he appears to be expecting something to pop, so I though "what could be done without it going pop" and came across the above suggestions.

US power figures perhaps ?

I dynoed 321rwhp at 14 psi on a stock engine with these mods.

Air intakes
Full exhaust
FMIC
Re-Amemiya ECU
Boost controller

If i had changed to Iridium plugs i might have gotten a better result.

Indeed, what dynos are these power figures from? The Dynajets seen a lot in the US are reported (reputed?) to give way greater power figures than stuff like the Dyno Dynamics for e.g.

Hmmm, 20whp increase for an apexi intake kit....

Power FC readings of the Inj Duty would answer any injector queries.;)

I think it might be a case of some people over estimating the power output from their cars???

As sometimes we all exaggarate, b4 you say anything Hippy not me.......... never!!!!!:rollin :rollin :rollin

Now what was the hp on mine 750bhp?????:rolleyes: ;) :p

I got 290.1 RWHP Which equates to 349.2 fwhp at 14psi with these MODS;

HKS down pipe
HKS hiper exhaust
HKS intake
HKS dump valve
HKS boost controller
Exedy Clutch
Exedy lightened flywheel
WGT cat pipe
WGT large smic
ported engine (by Rotechnics)
uprated fuel pump
uprated fuel lines
uprated fuel regulator
1500cc injectors (sec)
Apexi power FC + Commander
Mappped by Geff (REworks) using Cpl rollers.

Cheers Scott

Nah being totally honest now i think 750bhp was a slight lie more like 800bhp me thinks???:rollin :rollin :rollin

Still aint dyno\'d it again yet so once i do i will post results for you, good or bad:(

I\'m just under 280 rwBHP (279.8 :) ) with
Apexi GT Intercooler and induction (full width jobby)
Apexi GT Radiator
1200 cc secondary injectors
Bosch 404 in tank fuel pump
Apexi PFC
Restrictive back box and cat (cost me I know but it is quiet).
Under hard acceleration my injector duty cycle shows ~80%.

Yeah did have a original fuel pump. But the Re-Amemiya ECU is mapped for 1.2kg. But turnd the boost down to 14 psi i think. I might have been running 15.

And it is done on a Dynojet. And a freind that got 302rwhp on 200SX S14A did get 301rwhp on a Dynapack. So i think the Dynojet is pretty acurate.

Edit: OH and i don\'t have a cat on the car, just a 3 inch pipe.

Dynopacks read much higher though as you dont get the same transmission losses.

Power and Dyno discussions.  Dont you just love em :rollin

Its all pub talk anyway, I can\'t beleive an engine would last with no additional fueling/cooling at 280 rwhp

anyway its all crap anyway becuase all dyno figures seem to be different

Agreed, its all poo. The best we can hope for is some thing like the FDUK r/r day where at least every one is being measured on the same setup, with the same tyres pressures etc etc etc etc etc

And yes, then off to the pub afterwards Danny :D

Alternatively take all cars to the strip, have a robot drive them all to remove human error with luanching etc. That should show where the power is.

Regarding "will it last" -  I\'d add some cooling, like a Koyo or a Howe or somert, and maybe take the aircon out!
