Not suprised of the end result with those vents covering all the airflow. You need to ditch them or same thing will happen again.

Not sure which volks, like them all just the cost!!.

Is that true about the air flow? Could that be a reason why the coolant seal has gone, can not afford a shiney intercooler so it was a cheaper optiion!!!!

the mesh by oil cooler (if you have one) this side looks more metal than air how about the rad kinda middle one looks thinner metal so surely not too bad? What water temps did you get if you have/had readings?

trust me that block serious airflow. There are a few people that have had rebuilds due to water seal or other overheating issues because of vents like that.

i recall this came up before, did we agree that as long as water temps are staying in double figures that no real (or major) issue thou?

The car was not overheating, it was running well.

Except flooding which i thought was fuel but was coolant into the spark plug housings. The car has done 46000 miles and is 12 years old!

But if you think the mesh is doing harm to the car it will come off asap????

she gets picked up today, does anyone know about the coolant mods that dragons offer??

Cheers

Hi mate,

They are charging 3790, that is for collection of the car, plus new rotor housings rotor tips all new seals and hoses plus have the car ported and tuned for 20% extra gain all in the price. Which i thought was quite cool.

hello dude,
car is still with dragons, not doing the clutch as it has a double plate already. But there is alot of oil in the turbo, do not know how bad that is.  when you starting your rebuild? Is yours modded?

Hi mate,
Decided not to do my rebuild myself after all! Got a highly recomended guy doing it for me now, i took the engine out myself, And fortunatly Chris was free to do the rebuild, so as soon as i had it sat in the drive he came round stripped all ancilaries off, outside by torch light, mostly by feel, and took less than 2 hours to do all that, and tonight i took the block to the garage he uses and he stripped the block right down and found the problem in no time, hes very quick, it would have taken me a month to get this far! it was a failed water jacket gasket caused by corrosion eating away at the side of the o ring groove, but ive decided to replace front plate and both housings, while its at this stage,i dont want to risk having to take it out again, i\'m glad i didnt try this myself even with the video, i\'m not having any mods to the block, i had a test drive of one of Chris\'s standard rebuilds, and it doesnt need anything extra for me!very fast car, the guy knows his stuff, with luck he plans to rebuild it saturday, refit the engine on Sunday!if parts availiable,  Brilliant! i\'ll let you know how it goes,
cheers Bob

That sounds well cool, and saved yourself a lot of money. Wish i had the know how. Sounds like we may have had the same sort of problem with the water seal.

Hi mate,
Yes i am petty sure he will be doing rebuilds during the
winter months, i will check though, if the timing worked out i could probably put you up or arrange B&B, he is waiting for new housings to come in for mine so i will have to wait till next week,
( i could have had some very good used housings he has but decided on new, )but that is still way ahead of the 3 months i would have taken to do it! when were you thinking of having it done? is it overheating now, are you still using it?
I\'ll let you know how busy he is, if you can give me some idea when you might want it done,
cheers Bob

Hi Col,
How is your car going? have you got it back yet, is it ok? any news at all from Dragon? i was at one time going to get them to do my rebuild, but they never replied to my email about that, or an email about supplying an uprated radiator! Hope all going well mate,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Car is still at Dragons think it will be there a while, in no great rush, no news on the turbo yet, and it is hard to get hold of Ross. Have not read any bad things about them though. Is yours up and running, sounds like your mate could have a bit of business coming his way! Wish i had know before hand otherwise he could of had mine also!! I think my rotorhouseings are in good condition also, just the water seals had gone, I am going to ask for them and sell them on hopefully.

Hi Col,
Sorry you not got your car back yet mate, my guy was wanting to get mine rebuilt tomorow and fit it in the car on sunday! unfortunately his supplier is out of housings untill later in the week, maybe next weekend, i must say something which is brilliant is to be able to watch whats going on with my engine and to be able to talk to the guy, about it, his name is Chris by the way,
i think he will be busy this winter, but that will suit him, good luck.
