I think Ross @ Dragon Performance does a chrome/polished exchange service for both the inlet & alternator
alternator was about £40-50

It\'s easy G\'

Get some rough sand paper and rub all the nipples off:rolleyes:
Get some finer sand paper to remove all the grooves you just made
Get some wet & dry to remove all the scratches you just made
Get some metal polish and rub like you\'ve never rubbed before!

After about 48hrs of continous rubbing you will get very sore fingers!;)

hummm sounds OK

so swap that for

1 - dremel with very fine polishing head
2 - lots of polish
3 - sit back after 10 mins with a nice beer :)

whats on the end of the drill ???
Title: Hard work?
Post by: Sean on September 03, 2004, 03:12:57 PM
It\'s a sand paper wheel (very large dremmel ) made of lots of flaps:p
Title: Hard work?
Post by: grinder on September 03, 2004, 03:20:05 PM
ah right - i have one of them

is that for the inital sanding ?

and i have bought a dremmel sized on for the fiddly bits ( was in the bargain bin of the B&Q for £1.66 ) - the sanding thing no the dremmel !!

I used the wheel to remove the nipples

I then used the dremmel to reach the parts that other sander couldn\'t reach;)

I then used the wet n\' dry to remove the mess I had made

I then used a half a kilo of peek metal polish (other types of polish are available)

looks like a sand paper flapper wheel thingy to me...
I always use best elbow grease mixed with midnight oil for jobs like this....

If you guys check out say Demon Tweeks for motorcycles brochure they do full on polishing kits, soap, polishing wheels etc etc and they are not that expensive. It takes out a lot of the elbow grease invovled. Did my bike frame, swingarm etc etc. Certainly easier than sandpaper.

hey Paul TII,

i noticed in that pic of yours, was that your previous TII?? apart from take the engine out, how did you get the engine bay so clean?? i cant reach down to some areas, so only have cleaned my wheel arch part, and the firewall behind the engine,

Just cleaned by hand a little at a time half hour here and there,
over several years.
The car was sold to \'Loxam\' last Nov.ish who is /was on here.
I believe the car is for sale at the mo.
