Title: Brake pads
Post by: muzzyd on September 02, 2004, 12:46:59 PM
Can anyone recommend good brake pads?  I dont mind if they dont last long so long as they stop really well.  The ones that were fitted, according to the garage, are already worn after they tried to bed them in.

Car is slightly modified, I am sure the calipers and discs are from a 99model, or whichever model had larger discs as I had trouble ordering replacements.

Thanks.

I\'ve just fitted a set of Black Diamond disks and Hawk HT-10 pads on the front of my FD.  THey were immediately as good as the old pads on fitment.  Now they\'re getting bedded in the difference is staggering.  I though I\'d fitted them wrong at first and am having to learn how much break pressure to use all over again!

I\'d put that down to them bedding in!  It\'s not a problem though as I have a handy hosepipe!

What\'s really amased me is how easily I can get the abs to kick in if I get a little too heavy on the breaks.  Combination of new breaks and Eagle F1s I think!

I\'ve been using these pads on track with very good results for the past couple of years. They offer amazing bite when upto temp and I\'ve been unable to get them to fade after repeated hard use.

Will be switching to a custom AP setup though when I\'ve finished these off.

Managed to boil the fuild @ Trax but hadn\'t got round to putting the 5.1 fluid in.  Even then it wasn\'t too bad but I did get a lot of judder under heavy breaking.  Might have been the ABS kicking in but might not - will need to investigate further.

Also have a bit of break squeal now which is annoying!
