Hi all,

This caught my eye:

http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=44694

Pretty damn impressive.

Has Power FC, Larger Intercooler etc.

M/T Streets tyres, 1.6 0-60ft!

It\'s not fair - he can bounce it off the limiter and get away with it ;)

He must be a fairly handy driver!

I would guess that he runs race fuel for his high boost antics? Things must get seriously hot in them rotors with the stock twins.

Seriously impressive stuff :)

Over 350 at the wheels!!!! hmmm he must have modded his fuelling, there is no way he can be running on stock injectors or fuel pump.

If he hasnt the guy who mapped his car knows his stuff!!

Glen ask him about his fuel system will be interesting to know

That\'s impressive running on the stock twins, I can\'t imagine his turbos will live too long under that kinda pressure tho!

Question about the fuel system has gone in.

I will also be amazed if it hangs together for ages - some serious hp, even with great tuning!

He running 1.1 bar on stock twins? Are they good for that or not!

Also are the stock twins on the newer Rx-7 (2001) more reliable than say stock twins from a 1995 RX-7?

Well - if you look at the post, he says he is running stock pump/injectors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty amazing!  I wanna know when it lets go.

Good stuff.... I came accross an acceleration calculator a while a go here

http://www.rx7.com/accel_calculator.html

Not sure how accurate it is or how good my weight number is but to get a time of 11.2 you need to be putting out 420 rwhp. Here are the numbers I used

hp 420
weight 2875
shifts 3
tyre height 25

gives an ET of 11.27 and a speed of 126 mph.

Weight is everything... if you drop the weight by 400lbs you only need 360rwhp

Thats some awesome tuned stock motor.

Does it say any where that it is wheel hp to use?

600hp, 2695lb, 9.99 :D

Yeah,

There is a ? icon next to the words Acceleration Calculator click on it and it gives you an example

no f***kin way can the standard fuel system supply enough juice for 350 plus rwhp let alone 420 rwhp to produce that time, dont care how well its tuned, I like to hear MikeLMR views on this.
The guy is hiding something!!!

I hit him with another question on the duty - be good if some of you guys who have been there done that could fire some q\'s at him also :)

I\'m still amazed- it is an incredible time.

Ant - you around?  you had quite a bit of experience with this (very similar) set-up.

looking at the pics, I like the idea of him using two rx7 spare wheels for the front, must save some weight and rolling resitance, will the rubber be safe at those speeds

Lol I\'m an expert now :)

no idea on the fuel system side, but what else has been done to the car ? don\'t forget a 11 sec 1/4 is much much easier if your car weighs feck all.

Hi all,

Well - it is running stock pump/injectors etc.

So - it is just plain impressive!  the rest of the thread has almost all the spec. information on the car.  He is going to post up the dyno pics. later today.

The turbo\'s aren\'t even the upgraded Series 8 ones!  just the Series 6/7 turbos.

From what I read around here, sounds like there is something he\'s not saying.

Maybe some kind of wacky fuel or some kind of extra octane booster (Toluene anyone?).  Was the IC iced up or maybe some kind of coolant on it. Maybe packed with dry ice, etc? Running big boost is fine, but even better if the air is cold, right? That could explain the big power, really cold air. Does he run giggle gas? Heck, you could make any POS run an 11 with enough octane points and enough oxygen.

Doesn\'t matter who you are or who you sold your soul to, you still gotta obey some laws of physics and thermodynamics...;)

Hi Schtoo,

I guess we\'ll wait and see what he posts on the Dyno sheets - I do believe what he has done is possible.

It isn\'t even a front mount IC!

Sheets are there, I have calculated it to be roughly 420hp at the flywheel!

Post by: Schtoo on September 05, 2004, 04:30:05 PM
So, the sheets are there, and assuming they are correct there is one of two things occuring here.

1. He\'s doing something he is not saying (see previous post).

2. He is violating some fundamental physics and somehow getting away with it, in which case see point 1.

Even seeing timeslips, eyewitnesses, etc still does not explain how. I don\'t deny that he did run those times, but how is he getting the power with an inadequate (for that HP) fuel delivery system? Maybe he doens\'t know, or has been given wrong info on his car? If the thing was proffesionally prepped (souinds like it) then one of the first changes would have been pump and injectors.

I think he knows not what he has come to think of it. Like alot of folks, can drive the wheels off anything, but doesn\'t know how to put the wheels back on.

When will the feline expurge itself from the flexible containment device???

Schtoo I agree with on the "He is violating some fundamental physics" point

I seem to remember Bill Shurvington knows a lot about whats possiable, seen his good points on another thread.

yeah he is probably is a good driver but has no clue whats go on in his car before he bought it, he probably has an upgraded fuel system with out him knowing.

my t51r only has stock injectors at the mo. I It has done 14000 miles like this 1200 of them by me about 20 runs at pod and even disconnected boost controller and hits 1.5 bar and I have done alot of the miles doing burnouts at frequently hitting 9,000.
There is absolutely nop way it\'s supplying anywhere near enough fuel for this setup so I guess this guy\'s achievement is more than believable. Don\'t forget he got 1.6 60ft which is very good even by 4wd standards.

I have done a little homework on this, it just MAY be possible!  :)  this is what I posted on Ausrotary...

SERIESvii!

Yes - I\'m still very interested in this!  :)  I have been playing around a little in the Quarter Jnr program, and have found the following (screen dumps below):

Details:

I based the run on the mph figure, so it looks like you have around 410hp at the flywheel - which must mean your fuel system is on the limit! The weight I calculated as follows:

In kg\'s:
Car: 1310  (going from this spec. http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/3rdgen/manuals/95brochure/imagepages/image18.htm )
Driver: 70
Fuel: 26

Total: 1406kgs ... converted to 3100pounds.

I tried to match your timeslips as best possible.

Essentially it is the perfect launch/run!

Out of interest, if you were to put a 4.3/4.7 diff ratio in the car - it won\'t actually make that much difference to the time/mph.  It is weight of course that makes a big difference i.e. if you lose 100kgs you are in the 10\'s:  :)

damn I wish every stock engine/Stock turbo/stock fuel system RX7s could replicate that time and power, i wouldnt have to spend so much money in modding trying to get myself into the 12s
