Fitted new front discs and pads last weeks and rear pads today... Did it all myself with a little gudance from a mate and am pretty pleased with myself!
Front pads are Hawk HT-10s, the Discs are black diamond. Just beginning to bed in and are awesome. I thought the breaks were good before but they\'re unbelievable now and they\'re not fully bedded in yet!
Rear pads are Hawk HP something or other.
Front disks were a beatch of a job as the retaining screws had welded themselves to the disks. Looks like the disks were the originals as they too were corroded to the bell!
Rear right was easy (2 17mm bolts to release the floating calliper) but the left took my full bodyweight from underneath. Had to go buy a proper jack and axle stands to be able to get it off safely.
One key thing to not if you\'re doing it yourself is you\'ll need a special tool to wind the piston back in as it\'s self-adjusting. You won\'t get the calliper back on without adjusting it over the new (thicker) pads!
Also, after months of owning it, got round to fitting the boot-brace for the rear strut brace, easy enough in the end. Piccies below...

It was a doddle to fit really. Only a couple of things to watch out for:
1) You\'ll need to remove the foam from under the boot carpet as it makes it too thick for the bolts to come through.
2) Drill carefully!!! The mount point is directly above the diff (about 10cm clearance so that\'s not the problem). Nothing to drill into on the left side but there\'s a rubber pipe on the right side that could be hit by the drill. Either be careful not to follow through when drilling or use a very short drill bit!
Also make sure you use an axle stand in a secure place if you\'re going to crawl around under there... I had no problems having just one side jacked up as the other side was on the incline leading to our garage. If you\'re on the flat you\'ll probably need to raise both sides.

PS Danny - you\'re right should\'ve done this a long while ago!
Looking good!
I may have to invest in some new discs too after attempting to clean off the rust layer and getting.. well nowhere! Lots of dust and still rust on there!
Always wondered if the black diamonds went silver or if they stayed black - my question is answered!:D
Thanks iain.
i was looking at that your pic again..... i dont suppose you could take a photo with your strut top covers off could you please?
Its just that i have a border roll cage to go in my car aswell....and it mounts to the top rear strut like the brace.
I\'m just wondering now if i can get the brace and cage to fit on there:confused:
Dan!!
Say Iain, where\'s ya get those nice wheel nuts from? I\'ve be looking around but had no luck at all! I\'d like some black / silver or gold ones depending on whats about.
They be Rays nuts. Did you not get a set with your rims?
Shin could get some, but they are expensive!
You must be the 50th person that said that! Nope just got a box with rim, cover, valve with cap! You don\'t get a centre cap or bolts or the little rings that go in the inner section of the rim. Bit cheeky of Rays but they have to make money at the end of the day.
I mailed Shin but he hasn\'t got back to me yet.. Just wondered if anyone knew of somewhere to get em - doesn\'t have to have Rays stamped on them.
I saw some Spoon ones - but they where crazy money like £4.93 per bolt b4 vat!!
I don\'t think sooo!!:p
Nuts were on the car when it came over. Realistically though they could do with replacing as they\'re looking a bit used. As are the wheels!
I wouldn\'t mind getting hold of one of the rays metal valve stems as in now have one sliver one and 3 anodised blue ones after getting new tyres fitted. The cap on one of the blue ones had welded to the valve!
Dan - I\'ll try to remember to take a photo tonight. Depending on how thick the roll cage mount is it should be okay - I think there\'s about 5mm of thread free on mine at the moment. WOuldn\'t want to try to tighten the nut on anything less than it\'s full thickness though.
