Title: Bloody Apexi....
Post by: Fish on August 30, 2004, 01:04:11 PM
OK, when my starting my FD when it\'s warm, it goes silly hi idle (circa. 3.5k) then bounces about 10-15 times then settles down.

Is this a common thing with these crap things?

Thanks
Fish

I think that\'s a startup routine as mine does it too, possibly for getting oil to all the essential bits before being driven?  I\'m sure someone on here knows the reason why though.

Danny - there\'s a recent thread over on FDUK where we touch on this (thread started by SiCook)  It may be to do with the idle settings - the ones mine uses are posted on there and helped a little for Si so may help yours out...

Uh oh, time for a mapping session methinks.

OK, once the initial idle bouncing has finished I have a nice steady idle. It only happens when I start with a warm engine.

But ok, it does need to be properly mapped.

Can\'t think of a reason for it mate.

Mapping won\'t help - this is more of a fiddle with idle job, which could involve the map - but its not \'mapping\' per se  ;)

Am I making as much sense as usual :rollin

I guess that I must be fortunate with mine.

Never been mapped, and never done the bouncing idle trick from the day I fitted it.

Sure I read somewhere about buildup of deposits in the throttle body causing this problem by not letting the throttle close completely?

although I STILL don\'t have my apexi fitted, I\'m sure I read somewhere you can disable to AWS (auto warm-up system) by starting the car in reverse gear, though dunno if this will work on the apexi, works on the stock though?

Calllllllllll me mr mushroom ;)

Was the engine warm the first time you started it after installing the PFC??  I\'ve heard that problems can occur with the idle if the system isn\'t started cold.  Possibly to do with learning things in the right order kinda thing ???
