Title: emissions on FD
Post by: 93type-x on August 27, 2004, 02:02:58 PM
I had an emissions test yesterday and the guy only passed me cos he didnt have my car in his book so classed it as a pre cat test. he said that the only ones he has are for an RX with the full UK chassis code , explained the jap thing and he was cool.
the readings are these>
CO=3.44%vol
CO2=13.84%
HC=0400 ppm vol
O2=0.070%
lambda=.896 at2406rpm

I know it is rich but how over the top is this? (seriously cos I dont know)
also I dont think the ecu has been played with it looks ok, appart from the Knight sport FCDC and APEXi SAFC that was set -15%at1000rpm going up to -10%at 3500 just for the test.
Question is what could be the thing?
ecu, lambda sensor, cat or something in the fuel system? the engine is still standard twins and intake:confused:
apart from an ECU transplant what else can i do?

The S-AFC will manage your air-fuel ratio - not the ECU. If you want to lean it out or make it richer you do that with the S-AFC.

The ECU "thinks" it\'s managing things but the SAFC frigs all the signals between the engine and the ECU. So both ends think they\'re in charge of things.

Personally I wouldn\'t mess with that bad boy - it really is rocket science - (or rocket fuel science anyway :D ) - get it mapped somewhere. If you go too lean it all goes boom!

(Thor have a good rep for some other cars... dunno if there\'s a recommended mapping expert for rotaries...)
