I was wondering when the rotary engine on a 13b engine need rebuilding.. what actually happens?? does the car run then *bang* seizes etc...and leaves you stranded on the road? or does it simply loses compression on the engine?? as you notice the performance drop.... cos I\'m afraid of getting stranded on the road in the middle of nowhere!!
Thanks all!..
Martin, the normal thing is that you will loose compression, and have trouble starting it. Yes they can just go bang, but then all engines can do this.
Various things to look out for would be loosing water, using even more oil than normal, poor starting, flooding can also happen.

mine went at 140 mph
it just started miss fireing and when i slowed down it was like a plug lead had fell off.
this was somewere near santa pod and it got me home ok, as i done more miles i got a bit braver and started caining it. it still went quite well really.
thanks guys.. I was just worried about it seizing up altogether and crashing etc!! at least I\'ll be able to limp home eh?
when my 12a lost a rotor,it sounded like a vw beetle with a v6,if that makes sense?!could still easily do 80mph on one rotor, just a bit sluggish pulling away, like a disel van.
Funny that\'s exactly how my turbo II cab sounded when the engine went like a volkswagen beetle. Good thing was it blew on my driveway, most convenient.

they can go in a few ways. i had an oil seal go on me in the driveway. started the engine and couldnt see the house anymore....

Mine went at like 2am out in the middle of nowhere during the winter. Just got on \'er a lil\' bit and all of the sudden there was no power and it sounded just like an old VW. When the apex seals go though it\'s a lot more destructive than if a coolant seal wears out as chunks of the apex seal(s) are flying around in there & usually make their way out through the turbo(s). Not cheap on the wallet. :(
