No expert but i would have thought rivets would be the best idea. What suspension do you have? Seems a silly question but if your setup is quite stiff the vibrations can cause problems...

I have Re-amemyia sideskirts and they are riveted. Mind you my suspension is like four rocks, one in each corner!

its standeard set up on terms of suspension. are your skirts riveted around the rear arch and the door sill?

They are riveted on the inside of each wheel arch (not visible from the side view of car)

To be honest i cant remember if they are riveted at the door sill. I will be working on the car tonight (currently rebuilding) so can have a look then if no one manages to answer the question inbetween times...

do NOT use tape on cwest\'s... I found out the hard way as mine went flying down the road and smashed to bits...

They get a LOT of air in them and the tape will eventually just flap off.

I got mine bonded,  wasn\'t expensive and they are glued solid :)

Still used the stock fixing points too

what fixing points exactly??? the bolts in the front arch but what about the rear arch? also did you have to modify the rear vent in the skirts as it wont fit as standard! do you have a pic you could post please?

the rear vent is quite small but it clashes with the rear pannel so ill have to cut the skirts and put some larger mesh in. id appreciate any detailed shots of this area and the fixing locations.

thanks alot mate.

hi, my mate got his mazdaspeed ones fitted by using all methods to get a real secure fit, firstly a recess hole was drilled in for the rivets all along the skirt, (no inner arch outer arch stuff, just along the skirt) then obviously these were smoothed out using filler, and it was bonded on whilst the rivets got put on, (get what i mean?) then to get that solid feel, it was foam injected to minimize as much vibration as possible,

Patrick,

thanks mate thats a great help, mine are slightly different with the rear air vent and it clashes with the body so needs cutting out to clear it. is that a rubber seal between the skirts and the car? if so where can i get some from?

great pics!

no probs bud

no its not a rubber seal, it\'s the bonding that they fixed it on with.. please don\'t put it on with tape.. cost me a grand that did, don\'t want it happening to anyone else :)

Any decent body shop will do bonding

the plan so far is,

rivet in positions on the lip on the rear arch, 2 rivets on the door sill and use the two existing bolts in the front arch, i was thinking of running a small bead of black mastic type sealant along the skirt just to fill the gap.

what do you think?

sounds good to me, as many securing points + the sealant sounds spot on..

i wanna see pics of before & and when its done dave :)

Title: Send off? .....

Send off for spraying? Is this some kind of mail-order paintshop I don\'t know about?! Just curious as I have side/rear skirts that need spraying/fitting...... Not sure how much to expect for spraying and fitting though. I may try and fit myself, as you guys are explaining.

Thanks,

alex.

ive got a mate who works at mazda who will spray them for me over the weekend but its best to fit them first so when you get them back its just a case of bolting them on and not drilling etc which could allow you to make a fu(k up of the paintork :D
