Title: BOV Tuning to avoid killing turbo
Post by: Mart160plus on August 22, 2004, 06:47:29 PM
Right, thanks to some forum help, fitted my Blitz BOV yesterday. Bit sticky at first but after a little lube it whooshes a lot better (yes, we are still talking about cars).
Compared to the GT-Four, there seems to be some delay between letting off / changing gear, and me hearing the whoosh ? I\'d expect it to be almost instantaneous, don\'t want to wreck my turbo. Also, it\'s not as loud as I thought it would be.

Am I right in believing you can \'tune\' the whoosh from the Blitz BOV ? Is it nut A (below) ? I tried loosening this but and it just came loose, no pressure against it once I\'d undone it a tad.

Just a bit concerned that fitting the Blitz has made me go backwards from the standard re-circulator....

Cheers.

Not to sure what the nut does, but the pipe needs to have a nicer bend that that tight one it currently has. Looks like its kinked!

G\'day from Germany,

the A: is to adjust the spring / boost wich will be kept in the system while the throtle will be closed.

tighten the spring and more boost will stay in the system.

loose the spring, and you will have less boost kept in the system. Important for race- cars where a BOV can couse boost leaks and bad response.

Cheers guys. Tried to get the hose to be as loose as possible but I guess I need to replace it with a longer one so that it has a smoother radius, I have some fuel hose that will do the trick.
I will adjust A and see what difference it makes. I think the spring might be a tad tight at the moment as I\'m not ragging the car about at 7k rpm all the time and only have the standard 10psi so I can afford for the dump valve to let the pressure out a little sooner.

Cheers.

Too late now Brian, already bought it !!!!!

We\'ll see how we go, if I can\'t get on with it I can always flog it - it didn\'t cost me that much.

Cheers,

Mart.

Ill second that, I run a Blitz bov at 10psi and it sounds pretty intense compared to all others on the market.
