Location
confirmed - Bicester Heritage- Hangar 113 - near Oxford. Saturday, 12 July.
From Charlie Walford:
"For those who don't know it, it's a pretty slick location, the shot below is from a few years back when we hired it. Costs have gone up abit. Give or take it'll be about 3k for the building all day and the insurance. I think we had 70+ cars last time. Call it 75 this time, that's 40 quid per car. Not to bad I think. I'm happy to pay a deposit if you guys are committed.
Thanks
Charlie"
I'm Going:- casey - (PAID)
- Clive & Lisa - (PAID)
- DaveCollins - (PAID)
- AMH - (PAID)
- Jim (lennycarloff) - (PAID)
- Roger Worthington Ellis - (PAID)
Thanks for posting that up Martin :icon_thumleft:
I was in communication with Charlie on Facebook yesterday about this and he asked if I would seek interest from other Mazda Rotary Clubs. You've done a great job there, and saved me the trouble. I will post up on RX7fb.com amd the RX-8 OC soon too.
I'm up for taking my RX-7 FB, if it's on one of the June dates.
Is there anyone else who might be interested in taking along their rotary to this event? Charlie is happy to extend the meet to "Mazda Rotaries", so not just 7's, any model will be fine.
Post up in here if you might be interested, no commitment at this stage, as we don't have the date confirmed. Be good to give Charlie an idea on numbers.
Martin - I have changed the title. I hope that's OK. I see Charlie has changed the name of his FaceBook Group from "7's Day" to "Rotary Day".
First "Rotorstock" event at Shakespeare County raceway - good old days :icon_thumright:
Date confirmed as Saturday 14th July?
UPDATE:
Date confirmed as Saturday, 12 July ;)
There is a private "Rotary Day - 2015" Facebook Group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/565377610787094/user/524810426
This is the primary way that Charlie Walford (https://www.facebook.com/groups/565377610787094/user/524810426) is organising the event. If you are on Facebook, shoot Charlie a message to get an invite to the group.
If you are not on Facebook, I will endeavour to relay the important information on here, but there will inevitably be a short (hopefully) delay.
The current situation is this:
"Tickets will be £40/car(passengers welcome). If Bicester cancel there'll be a full refund, if we don't get the numbers there'll be a 50% refund a few weeks up to the event - sliding down to zero the closer we get (if we've got 50 cars keen early doors I think we'll be just fine). It will strictly be a ticketed only event for owners - zero general public admission on the gate."
Charlie has to pay 50% deposit on booking the venue, so he'll be looking for early paymemts very soon. I'm awaiting details on how he'd like payments to be made and will post up on here when they are known.
Ah, payment details now published by Charlie:
"Regrettably this isn't a money making scheme, so naturally I don't want to be out of pocket. If granny dies, you've decided to identify as a Prious, flat tyres whatever it is, they'll be no refunds. That said, if bicester cancel, of course I'll refund everyone.
Once we've got 50 cars paid up I'll fire the deposit it bicester and we are cooking on gas.
I've got some cheeky ideas for photo ops, drones are welcome but will need to sign a waiver.

I've now paid :icon_thumleft:
I'll add a list to the first post shortly.
Paid :icon_thumright:
Thanks Lisa - list updated :icon_thumleft:
For anyone else considering attending this event, the venue appears to be very historic and interesting, beyond the hangar in which the rotary gathering will take place.
For example:
QuoteBicester Motion, of which Bicester Heritage is a component, is focused on positively shaping the future of mobility. Founded in 2013, Bicester Motion has gone from a standing start to a home for more than 50 specialist automotive and aviation businesses, with a collective turnover of in excess of half a billion pounds. It is set to grow exponentially with a global reach.
The former RAF Bicester site, on which Bicester Motion is now based, is of national historic importance. Neglected for the best part of 40 years, it was added to Historic England's 'At Risk Register' in 2008 and designated the most 'at risk' of all Defence Estates in the UK.
Since Bicester Motion's tenure, the site is now held as a national exemplar of constructive conservation by Historic England. The time-warp base is truly unmatched in evocative character, with even the paint colours being correct to 1930s British Standards. An active airfield and test and experience track complete its dynamic operation.

Interest in this event has been high (based on the activity on the private Facebook group at least). Hopefully, Charlie will achieve 75, or more, rotaries to attend.
Paid
:icon_thumright: list updated :)
Wow, there are now 109 rotaries paid up for this event. Absolutely amazing!
The limit is 120, so if you were thinking of going, not much time left before it sells out!
Sadly, another date clash for me with this one - I'm going to see the Stereophonics in Cardiff!!
Hope it's a great day :great:
Lynne
Sorry to hear you can't join this epic gathering Lynne - enjoy the show though!
Message from Charlie on the Rotary Day 2025 FB page :-
For those who haven't seen the news, there has been a fatal fire at bicester heritage over night. It's not for us to speculate, nor do I think it appropriate for me to chase them about our event. I've dropped my contact a message and will leave it with them to get back to me, as soon as I get an update I'll let you lads and ladies know.
CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES - 1ST JULY
will close entry/tickets/places midnight on the 1st of July. Hopefully giving you all time to square your shizzle away. Again, there will be NO exceptions and NO entry on the day.
Hi, we're up for this but neither of the Facebook links are working. How do we pay?
Managed to contact Charlie on Facebook so all paid. :icon_thumleft:
Well done Ann :icon_thumleft:
Please add Jim Metcalfe (Lennycroft) to the list - has paid and will be joining us on Friday evening
Is Martin H not coming seeing he started the event?
Just checked with Charlie re facilities on the day :-
Bicester has a collection of vintage and classic workshop. Toilets, food, sometimes a bar on site. There is also a track day taking place next to us, so you shouldn't need to bring much.

!!FIRST WARNING!!
Morning @everyone I reckon for those not self employed Friday is likely to be pay day, so cut off for tickets is going to be MIDNIGHT ON THE 1ST OF JULY.
As it stands we have 16 spaces left, so it's first in best dressed. When they are gone they are gone, that will be us at an extra agreed capacity with Bicester so I can do sweet FA about more tickets.
AGAIN there will be NO exceptions on the day. No matter how bigger a deal you are in your own tictok feed.
1 admin point. I'll bang up a full list of those confirmed as paid on the 2nd. I'm a heathen and don't bank online so will be working off a pre printed list on the day, any concerns about payments please fire me a message prior.
"oh my transfer should have gone through by now" wont be humoured, we all know the line...find another route....
Exciting times, only 16 more sleeps till 7s day, or was it dorito day, rotary day, rotarstock, brappage....
Just to let people now, that it appears that we only have access to the hanger area so if you have any chairs etc that you want to bring to sit down on bring these, but according to Charlie this will depend on space available. Also not sure about being able to get coffee or something to eat there so you might want to come prepared.
Note sure where this is or whether it will be open on Saturday https://bicestermotion.com/latest/new-onsite-cafe-opens
Update from Charlie in case anyone has missed this on the FB page:-
The 'gates' will open at 09:30, we have the hangar until 17:00, I would encourage you all to try and get there in the first couple of hours. When you approach Bicester Heritage/Bicester Motion, we will enter the site at gate 8. 5mph on site please, it's an active airfield and other events are taking place.
All names/reg will be checked at the gate, all occupants given a wrist band. Please wear it when in the hangar, those without will be asked to leave.
I'll be in the hangar parking you wonderful people up, I've got a cunning plan, it will be a bit of a squeeze but worth it, so please bare with me when taking direction for where to park.
We will fill up from the back of the hangar, so drive slowly in when you approach it, it'll be become clear on the day. For those who don't know me, ginger hair, ginger beard, probably hungover, you wont miss me.
As you might imagine with recent events at Bicester they are VERY strict on no smoking in the hangar or general dickheadery, that includes vapes, rolling burnouts, revving up on arrival, anything that might be deemed a fire risk - any of that and you/potentially all of us are straight out. I'm sure you can all appreciate why.
There are WCs on site, food as well, so bring your sandwiches or some money.
At lunch time I thought we could have a move around of cars and get groups together who want team photos, for those there in the past that worked really well. It also then allows those to shoot off who want to leave.
If you are unsure if you have paid me, drop me a line and I'll confirm either way, failing that check your bank transfer.
Postcode for the venue is OX27 8AL - use gate 8 (A4421, Skimmingdish Lane), marked on attached map

I'm looking forward to this large gathering of Mazda Rotaries! See you all there on Saturday :great:
FROM CHARLIE:-
Right then, this is the plan!! Hence the bare with me on the day for parking, it'll be tight but I think well worth it. The rotor in the middle will be colour coded, I believe we have enough yellow, white and red cars coming to make that work. The rest of the colours are indicative.
The "stars" of 6, i will ask you all to park end in/nose out. The cars to the sides will be nose to tale. The cars first in against the far right wall, will be facing in.
Drones. If you want to fly a drone inside or out you need to fire over paperwork, email me ASAP at charlie@uptonbridgefarm.com and we can square that away.
Wristbands. Will be handed out on arrival at the gate. Please be sure to wear it, or have it on you, when inside the hanger.
Hangar doors will open at 09:30. Looking forward to it.

Well, 116 of the planned 140 rotaries turned up to provide an awesome display of varied cars, on a blazing hot day too! It was great to see so many familiar faces, plus some I'd only met virtually and some completely new, such as Roger Worthington-Ellis, with his lovely white FB. Sorry that I didn't get to spend much time with everyone, the day went so quickly and I had to leave early as I had an appointment with my newly arrived 2nd grandson :love4:
It was an ~280 mile round trip in a very hot car for me, but the FB didn't miss a beat, whether it was cruising at 70 (ish ;) ) or stuck in crawling/stationary traffic. On the way back home, I was stationary on a 4 lane stretch of the M25 for around 10 minutes, after crawling for a further 10 minutes and left the engine running as the temperature gauge was sitting happily on its normal 1/4-1/3 mark. When the traffic eventually started to move, a car in front of the vehicle I was behind took ages to restart his engine. Plus, 2 lanes to my right, in the overtaking lane, a large BMW SUV didn't move at all and put on his hazard lights. As my lane eventually got on the move, the BMW disappeared off my rear view mirror, still stationary, with hazards flashing.
Modern cars, eh ;D
Dan (Dr. FrankenRex on the RX-8 OC) has created a shared Google photo album where anyone can post up their pictures fromthe day. The album can be found here:
