Title: Simply Japanese, Beaulieu, Sunday 23 July
Post by: Casey on March 10, 2023, 04:17:47 PM
I'll be attending this event again with the RX-8 OC. Not sure at this stage whether I'll take the RX-8 or FB. It's a great day out and, by attending this way, you get into the venue at a cheaper rate - £16 per adult - instead of the usual price of £24. It's a good places for families too, with plenty to do and reduced entry prices for children.

The RX-8 OC are again extending an invitation to other Mazda rotary clubs to join then on their stand and present a more varied collection to the public. The OC will, most likely, have a large gazebo (or two!) with refreshments available. Several on here have attended previous shows and seemed to have enjoyed the day  :D

Further details to follow, but if you are interested (no commitment at this stage) then post up in here.

Equally, any questions, just post up.

More details here:

This video from the 2016, complied by an RX-8 OC member, gives a flavour of the event, plus my awful, error strewn interview at the 2019 event will give you a laugh

I have a great day at this event on the RX-8 OC stand, adjacent to the Familia rotary stand.

The weather was fine and the day was very relaxing and chilled. I spent most of the day (after a couple of bacon rolls and tea from the RX-8 OC stand!) chatting with fellow rotary enthusiasts and wandering around, seeking out rotaries on other stands.

The Mazda rotary is certainly becoming an endangered species. Just one FB, no FC's, around 10 FD's and 20 odd RX-8's in evidence. Maybe not that scientific, but interesting to note.

If anyone has not been to the Beaulieu Motor Museum for a while, then I can recommend you seek out this event next year. "Simply Japanese" offers cheaper admission, premium parking position and club stand facilities. This is more than a museum too, with a gorgeous, historical house, grounds and gardens. There is also an interesting display, explaining the role the estate played in WW2 in training "Special Operations Executive" agents. There were even several Falconry flying displays throughout the day on the grass lawn outside the manor house.

I'll post up some pics of the rotaries I saw at the show in the "Quick Pic" topic (https://mazdarotaryclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=85375.msg927020;topicseen#msg927020) but here's a couple.....

A nice surprise to see Linas there with his highly modified RX-8 R3, brought over on the ferry from the IOW:

The lone FB, owned by Russ, who I could not find and have never met, but know of his car through the rx7fb.com forum:

Hi, I was looking at going to simply Japanese. Are you planning in all parking up together?
Thanks
Rob

Sorry we are all going to JDM at Castle Combe the day before and this is too close to do both.

As Lisa said, you'd be most welcome to join the RX-8 OC stand. I'm on the Events Team at the RX-8 OC and would normally be going to this event but, like Clive, too busy a weekend with JDM Combe to be able to attend. If you would like to go, you can purchase your ticket(s) via: https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/day-events/simply-japanese/ - just enter RX-8 Owners Club in the relevant box.

Let me know if you book, so I can let the Team know to expect you - they love older rotaries and I doubt you will be the only non-RX-8 on the stand  :)

Be quick though, as the cut-off date for stand entries must be getting close!
