Title: More cold air needed
Post by: Rotary Rex7 on August 20, 2004, 06:35:30 PM
G\'day peeps

Just been thinking about how to get a better amount of cold air in to the engine.

What if there was a way to mount the induction fillter in the front bumper away from the rad?

I think that if the front bumper was an after market jobbie that was bigger that standard, then there might be enough room for the fillter and with slight mods, the pipe work that connects it to the turbo intakes.

dose any one else thinks it might work or is it just never going to work?

cheers peeps

One of the guys has done with with a stock early model bumper.

He removed the side lights/indicators and used these holes with the air filters just behind.

Took a lot of work, and extra wiring for lights, but he seemed to think it worked pretty well.

Shame he doesnt post much on here. ;)

You can get a custom job on the bonnet making a vent right where the air induction is, although if its raining the filter will get wet???

Not sure what the hole on Ross\'s beasty looked like now you put it in that context although i should add i was thinking of an add on sum folks get for the scoobies induction kit rather than the scoop for the TMIC....
Not the best pikky of wot i\'m on about but it\'s an excuse to reminis about how far my 7 has come:

Mines got a slit on the front bumper for air. Its the standard airbox inside but has a funnel type thing to catch air in the box.

OK where would be a good place to close off the induction kit with a heat shield kinda thing then? Wood it just be a case of making a an enclosure out of metal or wotever round the induction like (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/scooby_si/shield.jpg) & presumably under it as well to shield heat from rad etc then trying to get a cold air feed from somewhere? + insulating......?
