Title: Lathe
Post by: jinx on March 01, 2022, 09:00:38 PM
Just in case it is of interest to anyone...or anyone that anyone knows...

My brother has a very old treadle operated lathe that is going to lose its home in his garage to make way for something he will actually use. The lathe was his late father in law's and was originally intended for model engineering purposes. Haas automation this is not! Confident predictions about its ready sale from his enthusiastic son in law having come to nothing, this is its last call for salvation.

It has to go, comes at whatever the cost to you is of collecting it from near Heathrow OR it will have to be broken up and scrapped - which seems a terrible shame if anybody has a use for it.  I can forward his contacts if anybody wants more details. I believe it was manufactured by Drummond and is very old but AFAIK is complete and in working order. For those with a strong right foot or the ingenuity to motorise it (which people do apparently) it might be just what they want at the 'buy it now' price of £0.

Let me know.  Thanks.

I forgot to mention that if anybody reading this is in the lathe selling business, can give this a wipe over with an oily rag and flip it to make a few bob, that is absolutely fine. Brother is only really concerned to avoid having to scrap it simply because it would be a waste and nobody in my family ever willingly throws anything away.
