Title: Looking to buy a 5.4 or 5.1 final drive gear for my RX8
Post by: Mr Spiller on February 04, 2022, 07:06:50 PM
As said
Could possibly settle for a 5.1
If anyone has or knows some who would part with one
Thanks

Are you sure you want that?
Youll be changing gear all the time and mid corner i suspect too.

Yeah
I think it will help
Low down take off from hairpins is the car's weakness , like having  a bit more torque I hope

Is that specifically the hairpin at Prembrey? I struggled with gearchoice and entry exit all day when we were there. Its almost a dead stop massive turn and power out.

Would be Mallory Combe and thruxton too
Anywhere there a long straight out of a tight hairpin
Pembrey , it wouldn't be the tight hairpin , it's the one over the other side with long straight

Can't comment on Pembury but with my Road RX-8 which was fairly quick around Combe, I found the R3 4.7 ratio used with a series 1 6 speed box was just about perfect.

Your never going to have one ratio that's perfect for every track.

Years ago with an axle we could change the diff over in around 15 minutes with three of us doing it, I used to carry four different ratios to change from track to track or even changing weather conditions.
