Title: Gauge pods arrived
Post by: wiggy on August 20, 2004, 09:00:02 AM
WOW....this thing is spot on quality and deffo worth the wait. The 60mm Defi\'s fit in great and it looks mean as hell :D

Anyone wanting a gauge pod for their FD I highly recommend this chap. Great coms, very freindly, fast to ship, well packed etc.

Expect a wait if you want a none off the shelf (like the 60mm RHD one) I \'ve been waiting for it for about 2 months....deffo worth it though

I made a single pod for a 60mm boost gauge that looks very similar to that for on the right of the dash and have thought about making a double for the centre.

Drain pipe spout, shaped, sanded anp sprayed satin black. £2.99 from b&q.  :D

I\'ll post a pic when I get the chance.

Maybe I should go into business!  Place your orders!!  He he.

Bespoke gauge pods can be so expensive and yet really make the difference.  Nice one mate it looks the mutts.

Scott

which 3 gauges did you go for??

I have water temp and boost but can\'t decide on a third? I know oil temp seems to be quite a good choise to keep an eye on them but I\'ll be getting the Power FC with hand controller soon so I will be able to view that on there so I\'m swaying towards the EGT?

Cheers

Nice - BF gauges.

You go for amber or white?  Gonna have to give us a pic of them all lit up too.

I\'ve got one of these to fit myself, how awkward was the centre speaker to remove?  I haven\'t looked yet, but presume the grille just pops out and the speaker can be removed from above?

Hi Scott, like the gauges.

3 gauges work out at about £425.

the control unit £105.

Do you have to buy the sensors on top of this or do they come with the gauges ? If not that\'s another £155.

Total for Boost, Oil Temp & Water Temp £685.

Please tell me I\'m wrong - triple gauge pod on way.

Regards
Phil

And a gauge Scot? :D

Thanks guys.

Presumably you still have to buy the extension piece for under the oil filter and for the water temp gauge, a "T" piece to insert into the hose ?

Yes you need to buy them seperate.

You can get the gauges much much cheaper than your prices though.

I paid £55 for the control unit
£99 for the boost gauge and £99 for the water temp

Buy direct from Japan, shipping isn\'t much, about £20 and I never paid duty as the company marked the value down to £50

Jobs a good\'n

Phil, you dont need the "T" piece for the water temp, it depends if you want a reading straight away? If you use the "T" piece you only get a temp when the thermostat opens when you start it from cold.

Their are other ways of connecting the temp sensor, its more of a balls ache. But its up to you.

20-b boy, Ive already fitted the gauges heres another pic.

As Scot suggests, you can always tap for the oil and water sendors instead of using sandwich plates etc...

How did you get all the wires from the speaker pod into the engine bay? Did some of the dash have to come out?
Title: Gauge pods arrived
Post by: Fish on September 04, 2004, 07:49:47 PM
I fed the wires down the passenger side and through the wing hole.

It\'s a real fiddle and cuts job.

DEFI GAUGES.....for us all

For those that have asked me about the prices I put up (lots of you did)

My guy is based in Malaysia and sells specially to Aus and UK as well as everywhere else.

He has an eBay shop or you can buy direct. I used to buy off eBay with him for the safety aspect but now buy direct and get a slightly better deal doing so. You can pay him with Paypal and he doesn\'t add 4% like most

His eBay shop is http://stores.ebay.com/5400rpm_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm

Please please please if you use him can you mention me (boostmad) I\'d appreciate it if you could :D

His prices are excellent and shipping per gauge is £15 for a single and about £20-£25 if you buy multiple gear.

Example, I bought my first set off him (all defi link BF) boost, water temp, EGT and the control unit and he charged me £25 shipping. He marks the items as a gift and also marks the value down. I didn\'t and have never been charged by customs using him. For those of you that don\'t know, you are allowed a personal allowance of £100 duty free for gifts. If the value is marked below this and marked as a gift then you will be OK.

Shipping is fast too, I ordered another EGT for a customer last Friday and it arrived today with TNT.

If he doesn\'t have the gauge or whatever you want up in his eBay shop, e-mail him and ask him to stick it up with a buy-it-now and he will.

Off the top of my head, prices as follows

Water temp £99
Oil temp £99
control unit II £55
Boost £114
EGT £133
Oil press £132
Fuel Press £132

Plus he sells all the other bits, warning light, extension cables etc

Don\'t quote me on these prices, I haven\'t checked

Happy shopping guys.....Defi link BF.....DROOOOOOL

By the way, I am in no way conected with this guy, I am simply helping you all out in getting top gear at a top price :D

Don\'t forget a mention though ;) boostmad is what he knows me as......
Cheers all
