Can Direct Injection Technology Save Rotary Engines? Possibility of DISC-RE.

Rotary engine: RE can have its own "optimal solution". Aside from the mechanical aspect, there may be a form that has a higher affinity for RE in terms of mechanism. It wouldn't be strange if there were other things like the DISC-RE introduced here that would greatly increase the possibility of just modifying a part.
DISC stands for Direct Ignition Stratified-Charge Combustion. In Japanese, it means "direct injection type stratified combustion". There are two main points that are different from normal RE. First, as the name suggests, stratified combustion by in-cylinder injection should be the previous step. Of course, we are also considering lean combustion. Lean combustion is a theme that has been tried in ordinary RE, but DISC-RE has another point to adopt the pilot ignition method in order to realize stable combustion even in a lean air-fuel mixture.
One of the structural weaknesses of RE is the large amount of unburned gas. Unburned gas is likely to be generated near the rotor apex on the trailing side of the working chamber, especially immediately after a cold start. This increases HC in the exhaust gas component and causes carbon deposition.
It can be said that the length of the operating chamber itself is not much different from the bore of a large displacement reciprocating engine. However, since the reciprocating engine ignites at the center of the cylinder, the distance that the flame propagates to the surroundings is only about half the bore diameter. Seen from the plug electrode, the space is almost even in all directions. In addition, the combustion chamber itself has become the mainstream, such as a pent roof type, in which pressure fluctuations are smoothly performed even in distant parts.....
