12 year old Liam Maddox built this 13b engine a little while back. As far as I know he is the youngest kid to have built one! I am happy to have been able to teach him and watch him take on the project! He ended up letting the car go after the engine was built because of a severely chewed up body harness, cracked dash and rust problems. However the engine went on to a turbo fc build, modified turbo externals were put on and the motor is now running in that turbo FC. Plans are to redo the body, paint and possibly interior at a later.
Liam is now working on his 13b SA22 track car project, 2003 Miata NB all motor build and his turbo 1jz savanna rhd fc3s build! I am helping him along while tinkering on my own GTUs build! Here is the video of his first engine build:

Most youngsters of today haven't even got the gumption to even use an engine hoist. And well controlled too.
Lets hope he carries on with his hobby.... keeps him off the streets and out of mischief.
Excellent, if he is anything like me ripping things apart from this sort of age will keep him on this path for the rest of his life.
I was talking to an old mate who from being an excellent mechanic and custom car builder, for the last 8 years he has taught automotive engineering at a collage as a full time job.
When he takes the kids on he asks if when they were younger did they take their push bikes etc to bits ??
If the answer is no and they have only been interested in sitting in doors on their Game Boys or whatever, he tells them that starting the course is not for them!!

I was always getting into trouble taking things apart...
And i built my first mountain bike! And custom Tamiya rc cars boats etc.
Great to see such a young guy showing a real passion for engineering.
