It doesn't look like having an MRC Christmas do is a goer for this year. So you are all invited to join the regular RX-8 Owners Club monthly meet on Friday 20th December 2019.  :06:

This is held at the Hungry Horse Pub, Shirwell Crescent, Furzton Lake, Milton Keynes MK4 1GA which has a Premier Inn next door. You can currently book a room for two people from £35.

As it's Christmas there is a 'Festive Fayre' menu; two courses for £11.99 or three courses for £14.99:

STARTERS

TOMATO SOUP (V)
Served with white bread.

CRANBERRY & ORANGE CHICKEN WINGS
Crispy chicken wings tossed in a sticky cranberry and orange glaze

PRAWN COCKTAIL
With seafood sauce, dressed mixed leaves and brown bread

CHICKEN LIVER & HERB PÃ,TÉ
A chicken liver pâté with cream and herbs. Served with dressed mixed leaves, caramelised red onion chutney and toast

MAINS

TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS DINNER
Hand-carved turkey served with sage and onion stuffing, pig in blanket, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy

FESTIVE BURGER
Beef burger topped with smoked streaky bacon, cranberry sauce and Brie, in a bun with burger sauce and lettuce.
Served with fries and ketchup

8OZ RUMP STEAK & PEPPERCORN SAUCE
Cooked to your liking with chips, peas, half a grilled tomato and peppercorn sauce in a jug

SALMON WITH HOLLANDAISE
Served with baby potatoes, seasonal vegetables and smoky Hollandaise sauce in a jug

FESTIVE PIE
Tender turkey layered on top of cranberry sauce and a cranberry, chestnut and pork stuffing with gravy. Encased in shortcrust pastry with a puff pastry Christmas tree lid, with mashed potatoes, peas and gravy in a jug

BEETROOT, SWEET POTATO & BUTTERNUT SQUASH TART (V)
A tart of winter vegetables and spinach with delicate flavours of fennel, spices and rosemary. Served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and Napolitana sauce in a jug

GET AN EXTRA PORTION OF PIGS IN BLANKETS FOR £1.00

DESSERTS

CHRISTMAS PUDDING (V)
Served with custard

CHOCOLATE AND CHERRY TORTE (VE)
A rich chocolate and kirsch cherry torte, served with vegan ice cream

LIMONCELLO DRIZZLED CHEESECAKE (V)
With Limoncello coulis and vanilla flavour ice cream

CHOCOLATE FUDGE BROWNIE (V)
A rich chocolate brownie topped with cherry compote and vanilla flavour ice cream

APPLE & BERRY CRUMBLE (V)
Served with custard

I will need to book in advance and pay a £5 per person deposit (redeemable against the bill).

There are already a few regulars confirmed for this but it would be great if anyone else from MRC would like to join us.  :a035:

Linda and I will be there regardless, even if no one else can make it, so have booked the hotel in anticipation.

Yes it would be good to see you and a few others from a few years ago. The FD will be in good health by then - be keen to see your R3 if you are driving it over.  ;)

I’m afraid not, it’s SORN for Winter now.
Plus the pub is only a couple of miles from where we live so not a great run for a Rex, and I’ll be having a Prosecco (or two! )

Our apology to all, but Linda and I will not be able to make tonight, Malcolm has the details, which I will not post here, just that it is unavoidable. Any costs incurred on our behalf let me know and I have your bank details Ann and will make good. Thanks for organising was looking forward to this. There is also a pre-booked room at the Premier Inn that is paid for and non-refundable, so if there is anyone in need, perhaps through over indulgence, it's yours if you need.
