I need to get some decent rubber for the new wheels and to be honest I've not bought decent tyres for over 6-7 years now.
Any recommendations on tyre brands and models?

For a road car i swear by Uniroyal rainsport 3s.
Ok not an out n out performance tyre but in all conditions dependable grip.
Ive got them on my Scooby wrx and dry or rain husling along they great.
On my eunos too.

I have Rainsport 3's on my RX-8 for "all round" use, plus they are superb wet weather track tyres :13:
