Mazda UK have kindly agreed to host a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the launch of the RX-7 at their HQ in Dartford on Saturday, 7th July.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm and all are welcome. If you are able, bring along your Mazda rotary to celebrate the day with other rotary enthusiasts. Even better if you can roll up in an increasingly rare (in the UK at least) RX-7 FB to celebrate it's launch 40 years ago :13:
Full details of the schedule are yet to be finalised, but expect a fun day out, with a few special cars to drool over in the Mazda Heritage Collection. They’ll be food and drink available onsite, a few deckchairs and probably some music and games/quizzes too.
The “Mazda Fans†weekend last year was well attended and much enjoyed, so expect a similar experience and vibe for this year.
The team at Mazda Rotary Club are liaising with Mazda UK to finalise details, but attendance is free and open to all Mazda rotary enthusiasts, regardless of car ownership or club membership. All that we ask is that you register your interest in attending asap by providing your full name and email address to team@mazdarotaryclub.com,along with the names of any passengers you intend to bring along. These details will be passed to Mazda to send out further information of the event in due course. The details you provide will be used for the sole purpose of communicating with you about this event.
There is limited capacity at the Mazda HQ site, so don’t delay in registering or you might miss out :13:

I can confirm that everyone who has emailed has been added to the list, plus I've added people who have posted up on here too ;) :)
Hello!
I've sent the email as requested to team@mazdarotaryclub.com - I hope I'm not too late to attend on 7/7/18.
Email: lynneedmonds@aol.com
It'll probably be just me!.....
Best wishes,
Lynne
Update; there are now 62 rotaries registered for this event and over 100 people, so it'll be quite a special day :icon_thumleft:
We have 12 RX-7 1st Gens (inc 2 Elford Turbos), an RX-3, RX-4 as well as FC's, FD's and RX-8's coming along. Add that to the special rotaries that Mazda will have in their Heritage centre and there's lots for a rotary enthusiast to see, and to chat to the car's owners.
Still time to register :)
Make that 63 :)
All being well I hope to be there with my 1988 original FC. Figured it was time for an outing across the border!
Will drop you an email
Ken
Mazda UK have requested all registrations for this event be received by midnight this coming Tuesday, 12 June.
I hope that's not too loud ;) - don't say you haven't had enough time/notice :D
Many thanks for the interest in this event and all those who will be attending.
We ended with 74 cars that will attend, should be a very memorable Rotary day :great:
Huge THANKS to Malcolm for his work plugging this even though he is unable to attend due to a prior commitment, :( now there's true Rotary dedication . :bravo_2:
You just cant believe how much I would love to be there. :(
But we have our own 7/7 day here, so that day is going to be great I quess. :))
Registration to attend this event is now closed. We have around 70 Mazda Rotaries and around 120 people registered to come along. If you've registered, keep an eye out for am email from Mazda UK in due course with further details of the event :)
Thank you for your support, it will be a really cool day with lots to see and people to meet :icon_thumleft:

Not long to go now :)
Everyone who registered their interest should have received an email by now, direct from Grant Richards at Mazda Motors UK, outlining the day’s events and asking everyone to re-confirm they are still planning to attend.
It is VITAL that people reply to that email so that your name(s) and car details will be on the list for the day.
If you have registered, but have NOT received an email from Mazda, check your spam/junk folders and if no luck, please email team@mazdarotaryclub.com and we’ll get things sorted.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm. On arrival, your names will be checked off as you enter the site, and you will receive a trophy voting form. You will then be directed where to park, so please follow the parking marshals’ instructions. All rotaries will be parked together in the same area â€" if you want to park alongside your friends, please arrange to arrive TOGETHER at the Mazda site entrance to facilitate this. The only exception will be if you arrive in a 1st Generation RX-7. This being the 40th anniversary of the launch of the RX-7, all 1st Generation RX-7’s will be parked together in a specific area, to which you will be directed.
If you are coming in a non-rotary then there will be a separate parking area available on site to which you will be directed.
Light refreshments, including a cold buffet, will be available at around noon, with hot and cold drinks available throughout the day, all kind courtesy of Mazda. By all means bring your own refreshments if you wish.
We are trying to organise some deckchairs, but you might want to bring your own camping chairs as seating might be limited.
The weather forecast is still set to be sunny and up to 29 degrees, so bring some sun protection with you.
It only remains for the team at Mazda Rotary Club to wish you all a super day at one of the biggest gatherings of Mazda rotaries for some time in the UK!
We've kept the list open for last minute changes and the current attendance looks like this:
Cosmo 110s - 1
RX-3 - 2
RX-4 - 1
FB -11
FC - 3
FD - 26
RX-8 - 22
Umknown - 12
Total - 78
PLUS a Cosmo 110s, a Group B FB, a super low mileage FB and an FD are expected in the Mazda Heritage museum :13:
That has to be the biggest turnout and variety of Rotaries in one place in the UK for quite a long time :icon_thumleft:
I wish everyone attending a really great day 8)
Damn!

Now I really wish I could be there...

Have fun!!!

Hope you got the OK without frying too much. I remember with my EGI that I learnt to drive long journeys with my left leg tucked under my right leg, wow they get hot in the footwell and I do mean damned hot.

Real shame, you really would have enjoyed this one.
If your reading this for the first time and thought you missed this, don't worry if your driving a Rotary we will sneak you in ;)
Today we found out we even have a super rare R100 coming along, meaning we will have more old skool Rotarys attending this event than has ever happened in the UK at event before :c029:

R100???
Weird thing btw, we have our own Sevens day here too. Everyone is getting their cars done, washing them and getting ready. And few "most reliable" FD´s broke down yesterday. :))
Anyhoo, have fun! Take lots of pics! :great:

Hi Lisa,
Great day, thanks to all.
Due to needing a new battery this morning we arrived too late for voting, had my FD for 18 years now.
Kevin
Thank you to you both for coming along to thge Mazda day yesterday. I have update the list on the previous post regarding longest Rotary ownership :great:
Hi Lisa, Clive and Malcolm
Just want to pass our thanks to you all for organising such an excellent day in conjunction with Mazda UK. Having been a member for some years now it was good to finally put faces to names. And what an excellent and varied collection of rotaries!
And Clive. Yes I know exactly what you mean about the driving position. The journey Friday evening was warm enough, but the Saturday afternoon return to Wales can only be be described as a scorcher. The car fared far better than Sue and I! It didn't need any water (unlike us) and just a single stop for petrol and the usual oil top up. I could have done with a pair of gloves to hold the steering wheel and change gear though!
Congrats to Lynne, Tanya and Mark - all worthy winners :sign0098:. Mine was just one of endurance!
Ken (and Sue)
Hi Lisa, Clive and Malcolm
Thanks for a great day yesterday and please send my thanks to Mazda. A very well organised and much enjoyed day I'm sure enjoyed by one and all.
I felt sorry for you Malcolm not being able to make it but I'm sure you enjoyed your birthday.
David Ball
Thank you David & Ken for your feedback to the Mazda day and pleased that you both enjoyed the event.
Sorry for the delay in pictures still waiting for these from Mazda UK, but hopefully we will have these later today. In the meantime there are some up on our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10217000180695381&set=pcb.10217000230976638&type=3&theater
Many thanks for a great day. This is the first mazda event we have been to! it was great to meet other owners and, of course, to receive the prize.. we were exhausted after a long eventful drive home, but the rx7 behaved beautifully.
Tanya

Ken, your a life saver as we really did not have any pictures of the event as sadly two of the people who I know would have taken excellent pictures couldn't make it :(
Ken is there any way of uploading the pictures so people (including myself) can save them please.

Hi Clive. The photo's can be downloaded by selecting the photo to save and then selecting the "download this photo" icon at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
I can upload to to the forum if that's easier for everyone but obviously there's quite a lot of them. Let me know.
Apologies for my late contribution - it's been a busy couple of weeks for me since 7/7!......
This was a great day and huge thanks to all involved on the organisational front - Mazda UK, Clive, Lisa, and everyone. :sign0098:
This was my first event for many, many years and I was a little apprehensive about attending on my own!.... It was a pleasure to meet so many interesting and friendly owners and enthusiasts - and my car's award of "Rotary Car of the Day" was the most unexpected icing on the cake!! :13: :D
Unfortunately, I may not be able to make the Beaulieu event.
After getting me safely home after the 500 mile round trip, the car went into Mazda Cardiff for its MOT/service last Monday. Whilst the engine was idling for the emissions test, one of the auxiliary belts failed - I'm just glad that didn't happen in stationary traffic on the M25 the weekend before!!
So, now it's a matter of keeping my fingers crossed that the new belts arrive from Japan in time.
Hoping very much to seeing some of you again on 29th!.....
Best wishes,
Lynne
