Title: 1uzfe , fc , budget, street/track car, slow progress :)
Post by: Fcboss on July 03, 2017, 09:00:20 PM
Thought I'd put a project thread up, this is not going to be a big money build , but on a budget and all work done by me where possible

Plan is a 1uzfe manual street car with the right bits if I fancy doing some skidding

Shopping list so far if any one can help , standard rear seats , boot Capet and passenger front seat with rail,

I'm not one to mock people's skills but the welds holding the seats in were just dangerous plain and simple, if I can't do some thing begrudgingly I will pay some one especially when it comes to safety
Got new fuel hose on order as when you put the ignition on the current line with multiple holes in shoots petrol over the engine  :(

very nice... guessing it came with coilovers? i bet it already had the toe delete bushing in too... does it already have a welded or lsd? can not remember if you said or not... you should make a project page on drift works this will get lots of love  :love4:

Where would I like for delete bushes?

And cheers mate to be fair it only seems to be you reading my build thread on here ' drift works isn't my cup of tea as I don't own a BMW with a welded diff and cut springs

But thanks for reading do you have a build thread or have I missed it send me a link if I have
Title: Re: 1uzfe , fc , budget, street/track car, slow progress :)
Post by: tiredhero on July 17, 2017, 07:34:08 PM
i have one on driftworks  ;)  and i have a bmw (coilover though)  :'( ha ha ha i have not started on my fc... just buying lots of bits for it i have not started a thread for it, i need to get rid of a car so i have room to work on my drive, got greedy and have 4 cars at the moment mines red, needs  abit of work to get back on the road but when its on i have this feeling like ill end up getting rid of my e36 as i dont think it will live up to the fc at all so pointless having 2 fun cars... plus the rx7 is my dream car so makes more sense spending more on that than the bmw

Not much to report hoping to get a few hours on it this weekend and get the seats in and further work on the shoddy wiring

Looking into exhaust systems seems I have two options either import an over expensive system or make some thing up

This is not a big budget build so my plan is a 200sx centre and rear, very cheep brand new  ( with some welding , and fab the front section my self from scratch

Once I get some money free next thing is an ally rad and fans and I'll make some mounts n wiring to suit

The one expensive part of the build should be arriving tomorrow,,, will put pics up soon as  :great:

looking good I love to see a well executed resto mod project. It's nice to see what looks to be quality work happening.

I never cease to be amazed by the shite quality bodges lots of owners and plenty of "professionals" try to pass off as acceptable and safe work when I come across them.

Drifters or for the most part banger races as I like to label most of them are the worst by far IMHO, they seem to think because a car is only for track use it can be full of downright dangerous shoddy work.

Respect for putting the effort in to save this car from its previous dubious mods. I'm not a fan of V8 swapping any rotary car, (although I can see the appeal and what petrol head doesn't love a V8) but in this case its already done so you may as well make sure its done right.

Thanks for the reply, although I am mainly into drifting as sport you are right it's a drift car so a bodge is ok seems to be a running theme, if it didn't come with a v8 I certainly wouldn't put one in but as it was ther and working on it I've grown to like it (na 20b when I dream) 🤗

Currently through last stages of buying a house at the moment so really haven't touched it but here is how it stands now looking sad for it self and still with that paint

Awesome don't get me wrong I also love drifting as a sport. I just hare the banger racing element that seems to be taking over and don't get me started on those "Missile" cars.

I still think drifting is what killed most of the FC coupes when they were super cheap and not worth the cost of a rebuild at the time in most peoples eyes.

I'm also bitter and twisted as I sold my last FC to a "drifter" who ruined the car and killed the engine, then when I was looking to buy it back to save it he wanted 10 X what I sold him it for with no interior as it was now a drift spec car. ha ha and breathe.

I think alot of classic jdm has been ruined by drifters...but every cloud an all that there getting rid of bmws as well lol...
Whilst i appreciate the skill i no longer watch at the shows seen it all before but what really pees me off if people drifting on a trackday...had some numpty attempting to slide in front  of me and i nearly t boned him. Next lap hes in the tyres and session red flagged...thanks mate your time and money is obviously worth more than mine !
