Title: New Rotary Owner with a rolling shell project. Am i mad?
Post by: muckenash on February 12, 2017, 03:25:10 PM
Hi Guys and Girl,

I've just bout by first RX7 without so much as been in one before. I've wanted one since i was 12 so I'm sure ill love it.

There's only one small technical hitch in this plan I've bought a shell with no engine or box, as I cant afford the one i want so ill have to build it. Im a mechanical engineer and I'm pretty hand with a spanner. I've also got a few good mates who do body repair so I'm well covered in that department.

My main worry is sourcing parts. So any and all advise would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone is scrapping one or has a donor car laying round. Pleas pleas pleas can i come steal / beg / borrow / trade for the stupid little parts i don't even know I need yet but im sure i need.

I'm from Ireland originally and am  biased in Lutterworth (just south of Leicester) and love a good drive son not worried about traveling for parts.

Rely looking forward to being part of the seen an adding another RX7 to the uk roads.

The current state of the project

The body is in good shape and the interior is all there, well mostly.

As far as i know the engine was pulled because it had gone and the previous, previous owner was planning an engine swap, so it looks like it had been looked after until that point.

I have a list, albeit a little lacking in detail in some bits. Just rely need to find someone braking one and ill be flying.

Time to stat hunting then =)
