Title: Convertible top replacement recommendations
Post by: adam73bgt on January 27, 2017, 07:58:34 AM
Its not top of my pressing issues list at the moment but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get the top replaced on my Vert this year as its got the typical tears near the drains

Are there any convertible owners on here that can recommend a place to get this done? I'm midlands based so nearer the better please

Also can anyone comment on whether its worth going for a cloth hood over a standard vinyl replacement?

Cheers :)

cant recommend anywhere but having owned a few convertible with vinyl and cloth roofs id go cloth personally. once a year treat with autoglym fabric hood cleaner and conditioner and roof stays in lovely and clean and water beads straight off....
id personally fitted a vinyl roof on a mk1 mx5 and what a ball ache took all day.

id say a vinyl roof looks nice for a few years and then starts splitting and looking shabby and a well cared for cloth roof treated once a year can look good for lot longer.

same with rear panel, glass every time.

Cheers for the replies guys, I've got a little list of places to try so I shall add them as well thanks!

I've been edging towards a cloth roof and I think I will go that way as they do seem to be harder wearing with the proper care taken.

I've just got to get it back on the road then I can get it sorted! haha

Hiya,

Let us know how you get on - I'm Midlands based too and my roof is distinctly leaky!
