Mazda Rotary Club

The MRC are planning, as at last year's "JapDay" to have a Club stand adjacent to the RX-8 Owners Club and share "Club Member" exclusive tracktime. An opportunity to drive your car on track in front of 1000's of enthusiasts in the company of other rotary car drivers.

This is a hugely popular event, along with the "Japfest" events that preceded it at Castle Combe. Bundles of Japanese machinery to see, plus a ringside seat to see all the action on track. What's not to like!

Subscribe to this topic to be kept informed of further details of this event, as they become available.

Up to 4 "Club Exclusive" sessions will be available throughout the day, typically £25 per 15-18 minute session. If you are interested in putting your car on the stand, and/or taking to the track, please post up in this topic asap so we can gauge numbers.

Tony our two stands will be next to each other as per previous year.  So if you want track time let us know and we can you over on the RX-8 thread as they are organising the stand and track sessions for MRC.

Last year we was one side of the road near the barrier and the track with the RX8OC  on the other side of the road  8)

Each time I now go to Aston at Essex Rotary I see a yellow FD that I have been envious of each time I have seen it and especially after a run out in the passenger seat. How long before you are back in a rotary Chris?

Not long to go now  :)

I've volunteered (I think that's the word  ;)) to post out all the stand passes to the RX-8 OC and MRC Members going along to Combe. The passes arrived with me on Saturday and my plan is to get the stand passes in the post (first class) on Wednesday this week, so they should land with everyone a week before the event. I would ask you post up in here to confirm safe receipt  :icon_thumleft:

A bit about process:

1. I'll be posting out the stand passes (your entry ticket for one car, plus up to 4 occupants) to everyone, along with a short briefing sheet as advised above.
2. The MRC stand will be located in area M8 (see map a few posts further up) and the plan is to have a MRC Gazebo for shelter (against the sun of course  :great:)
3. Please try not to arrive on the stand before 7.45am, as there's a lot of setting up to do for the expected 77 cars across both stands. Having said that, you MUST be on the stand by 8.45am and I do advise you to arrive as close to 7.45am as possible due to the inevitable heavy traffic that builds up in the area.
4. The RX-8 OC have kindly extended the hospitality of their huge marquee and refreshments (bacon rolls, cakes, hot/cold drinks) for the day, or as long as the food lasts......
5. For those going out on track, I have the track passes and these will be available to collect from the RX-8 OC marquee from about 8.30am on the day, giving plenty of time to get your cars noise tested and attend a Safety Briefing before the first session at 11.30am

Good News :)

Ian.Mothersole and I spent a few hours today stuffing envelopes (77 of them!) with everyone's vehicle passes, including a basic brief about the day. These were posted out 1st class today, so look out for a "DL" sized white envelope arriving shortly (clue - RX-8 OC return address on the reverse  ;))

For those going on track, Ian and I have also assembled all the personalised "Track Packs" (38 of them) which contain the Track Pass(es) you have purchased, track session mirror "hangers" and a 5 page Track Briefing which should answer many questions. These packs will be available to collect from the RX-8 Club Marquee from 8.30am on the day.

I'll post up an electronic copy of the Track Briefing pack in this topic by the weekend, although Clive, Jon and Jim will be very familiar with the way the track sessions work by now (I hope  ;)) :)

Spoke to Pete (Conan) on RX8OC and all ok im bringing my car on Trailer and parking in trailer park which is further on down are spot behind tower...which means i can bring plenty of tools and consumables so if any 1 wants for summit on the day just look for the incedibly handsome chap next to the rough looking red fd...lol...
ill have scanner,multimeter, crimps etc trolley jacks, axle stands, socket set, oil, fluids, nuts n bolts jubiless all sorts of consumables, big cantilever toolbox full of usual handtools breaker bar, air pump etc etc...and a gert big hammer.
and track day essentials....gaffer tape and cable ties.....

dont forget those going on track tape for those pesky pieces of paper they want you to stick in your windows.....ill be using A4 clear sheets already stuck in just slip the paper in....

Brilliant Jon :icon_thumleft:, with 38 cars taking to the track, there's bound to be some need for tools/spares. I'll pack a basic tool set and a jack, so that can be readily available in the stand area. Gaffer tape and cable ties are always in my pack too  ;)

That was how Japfest used to do it; JapDay last year was different, everyone handed in a pass in the assembly area, nothing pesky to stick to windows, if I remember correctly? I didn't go on track last year, but have loads of pics and none show the passes in windows  :13:

Please confirm receipt their JDM "red" mirror hanger, which is your entry "ticket" to Combe on Saturday.

Ignore the actual Stand Numbers on the hanger, the parking marshals on the day (probably me and one/two others  ;)) will direct you to the MRC Stand area (PLEASE advise the marshals you are on the MRC stand, although we'll probably be aware  :))

The rest of this post only applies to those going out on track:

I forgot to post up the TRACK BRIEFING document, so it is now attached here for those going out on track. Please read it, as it explains the procedure for "signing on", which is a little different to normal trackdays. The rest of the stuff should be familiar (I hope  ;))

TRACK SESSION NOISE LEVEL: Combe is VERY strict on their static 100dBA limit (at 3/4 max revs), which is lower than the usual 105dBA trackday limit. Please check compliance BEFORE you get to Combe!Fail the test and you will NOT be permitted on track  :(

Your track passes, including a hard copy of the briefing I've posted up here, will be available to pick up from the RX-8 OC Marquee from 8.30am on Staurday.

For those staying at the Cepen Park Premier Inn, I have currently reserved a table for 8 people at 7.30pm, if you'd like to join me to eat.

So I can adjust the table booking accordingly, can you either PM me, or post up in here if you'd like to join me and how many in your party  :D

Yeah it's the Jim with the FC, it should be a good day on Saturday, been busy with the car, as of today the seven has MOT, TAX and insurance  :13:

Cool...looking forward to seeing it. Im pondering tyres...888s on at mo....but weather needs to make its mind up. If it does rain watch out Tower through to Camp as its the old surface and grip is non existent in the wet...they only resurfaced 2/3 of it so it can be a shock arriving at tower....

Good day out yesterday, excellent Rotary turn out, wowed by Chris's RX-3 and  the  organisers picked out their 25 best of show cars for a parade lap which included 4 Rotarys.

Here's a couple I took but I know Ann and Neil took some great  shots which hopefully will be posted later.

Next event is Tuner Fest South, Sunday week the 25th June at Brands

Ann, Neil's done a fantastic job again with those pictures :notworthy:, really capturing the spirit of the event with all sorts of angles and aspects of the day.

I especially liked the cropped "Track users must have arms + legs" ;D

He's moaning that he didn't have the right lens for the track stuff so hopefully they'll be even better next time.
