Title: DRIVETRIBE
Post by: chrisj on December 01, 2016, 06:50:30 PM
Anyone thinking of setting up a tribe for the club? Happy to help start it if you think it's appropriate but don't want to tread on any toes

Drivetribe is a new social media site created by the old top gear trio purely for sharing car related articles etc.

I have took the liberty of reusing the website home page intro to position the club in the first article. Happy to remove if you feel this is not appropriate.

So to launch the site, we need to recruit members and start to post rotary related articles. Perhaps reposting pic of the day is a good place to start. Or project updates, youtube videos etc. But that's entirely up to you.

The link below will take you to the  MRC drivetribe. Hope it proves popular, but nothing ventured nothing gained. Chris

PS, not sure if we can change me as the leader when others join. Hope so as I think Clive and the other major contributors would be a better figure head

Looks like I sent the last post from an old login, not sure how that happened.

We need people to join the MRC tribe in order to have it activated so resending. :)

Thanks Chris  :13:

I've not yet worked out what this DriveTribe is all about, but the more publicity we can get for the Rotary and the MRC the better, so I've joined and shared on my Facebook page.

Come on others, we need & members to get this to go "public" and we've only got 4 so far!

Just follow the link that Chris has posted just above and "join" - it's very simple, especially if you already have a Facebook account.

The Telegraph has run an article on it, so may help

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/on-demand/0/drivetribe-need-know-jeremy-clarksons-youporn-cars/

Chatting with guys on other forums it looks like there are pros and cons to using the site. It appears that the site holds the rights to any media posted and it is unclear how they intend to recoup their massive investment. May be with adverts but not sure at the moment. So the recommendation is to write articles that use links to this forum  so that the traffic is directed our way and we hold on to the intellectual properties. I have embedded links on the introduction article and they work fine. So perhaps we continue to write articles on our forum but used the tribe to advertise them to a wider audience

What you think? Don't want to do anything that detracts from this forum, but if we use the tribe wisely we can push traffic our way.

Do you ever get the feeling you have opened a hornets nest

Chris, really pleased we have somebody with the enthusiasm to help the club go forward in a slightly different direction but still keeping with the main ethos of the club,

As this is your baby and you have got it off the ground please feel free to load the "new" site with what wish. :)

Thanks Clive,

I may struggle to get on line the next 2 weeks as I'm off to Cuba in the morning to escape the festive weather. But I will try to get on line when ever I can. Wonder if they have rotaries in Havana ;D

Talking to Malcolm yesterday and found we both had the same problem finding our section.

The only solution till a few more join is to go in via the link below because until a few more join the MRC section will not be live to the public.

Like Malcolm said, its like Face Book just for cars, come on we need a few more to register.

Here you go,  https://www.drivetribe.com/t/GXNrt9vwT2KHXLcARedUUQ/EqJyzY-1TBC9PmSuwZQeFg

Nice one Jarno - we are now up to 17 members, better start feeding the beast, but try to use it to raise the profile of this forum, and possibly other rotary car forums where applicable

Great to see the tribe moving forward! Haven't found anything rotary in Cuba to post as yet. So will pick up when I get back to the uk

Taxi rank is impressive though so may do something on these classics later in the week when we head out on a road trip
