Title: Christmas Party - Saturday 10th December 2016
Post by: AMH on September 25, 2016, 05:51:29 PM
Hi all,

So I know it's still September but it's time to look at dates and venues for a 2016 Christmas Party. As in previous years we will look to book somewhere for dinner in the Milton Keynes area. One option is Browns who are doing 25% off their a la carte menu and free Prosecco if you book before 14th October.

Possible dates are either Saturday 3rd or 10th December.

Please can you post if you are interested and which dates you can do.

Hi Ann,

As usual Linda and I will be up for this. However, just a heads up that a few of us that normally attend are at Brands Hatch on Friday 2nd December so it could be a bit of an issue.

Hi Ann

Thanks for getting this going for me.  The 10th December would be a better date for me.

The 10th would be suitable for me. Keep us updated on location and booking arrangements further to me (which I know is soonish).
Thanks,
Jeff

Jackie and I should be free on the 10th.

OK folks, so I've spoken with Browns and they can do 7:30pm on 10th December if that's OK with everyone?

I need to pay a deposit of £10 per head to secure the booking and qualify for some free Prosecco, it looks like you can't get 25% off at Christmas though as it applies to the al a carte  menu not the festive menu.

So I think we have 15:

Ann & Neil
Lisa & Clive
Ray & Linda
Malcolm & Gwyn
Jeff
Chris & Tina
Sean & Siobhan
Ian & Jackie

And I'm chasing up Steve and I think he's the only regular I've not heard from.

I'll also check out hotel rates.

Ann
Can you recommend a decent hotel close by ?

Thanks
Chris

Right we're all booked up folks.  :06:

7:30pm at Browns Brasserie & Bar
Midsummer Boulevard
Unit 300 CBX3
Milton Keynes
MK9 2EA

I've paid a deposit of £10 per head so I'll PM you all my bank account details so you can do a transfer.

Attached is the Festive Menu and I need to pre-order so I'll do that nearer the time.

I've also attached the details of some offers. Because we booked by 14th October we all get a free glass of Prosecco (or soft drink) on arrival. We also all get a voucher for 25% off a meal at Browns before 30th November, but it does state that it can only be redeemed at the restaurant where the booking is - I am just double checking that is the case. And finally there's a 10% discount off drinks if pre-ordered a week in advance, I'll remind you all when I take your food orders if anyone wants to do this.

Hotel wise Browns is actually below a new Travelodge - which used to be the Ramada where we had our Christmas party in 2014. A double room starts at £61: https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/608/Milton-Keynes-at-The-Hub-hotel?checkIn=10%2F12%2F16&checkOut=11%2F12%2F16&rooms%5B0%5D%5Badults%5D=2&rooms%5B0%5D%5Bchildren%5D=0&rooms%5B0%5D%5Bextras%5D%5B0%5D= (https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/608/Milton-Keynes-at-The-Hub-hotel?checkIn=10%2F12%2F16&checkOut=11%2F12%2F16&rooms%5B0%5D%5Badults%5D=2&rooms%5B0%5D%5Bchildren%5D=0&rooms%5B0%5D%5Bextras%5D%5B0%5D=)

If anyone doesn't fancy that then Jurys Inn is a couple of doors up.

I think that's everything but any questions let me know.

Thanks Ann
Deposit for myself and Mrs CJR sent via Paypal as a gift.

I've booked in at the new Travelodge.

Many thanks Ann - I have sent you £20 via PayPal.

I've also booked into the Travelodge - a tip though for anyone yet to book there - if you Google "Tavelodge Discount" you will find the "Myvoucher codes" website where you can get a "one-off" discount code to knock 10% off the bill. It works  :)

The discount is only available for the next 3 days though, so you'll have to be quick!

Thanks Jeff, Malcolm & Chris - deposits received.

I've had the 25% off vouchers and they are only valid at Browns MK. If anyone still wants some let me know.

:( Sorry you both won't be joining us this year Clive and Lisa, but we'll be thinking of you this evening.

Our journey over (in the Jazz) looks to be rainy all the way........better than ice or snow though  ;)

We look forward to seeing everyone else tonight at Browns, if we don't bump into anyone first at the hotel  :)

Thanks to everyone for coming last night - especially to Jeff who drove all the way from Wales!

The photos are here: https://goo.gl/photos/tX6yrZMxiKxHrxb96

As we were discussing I've been going to these for ten years and here's the full run down:

2006 Jurys Inn Milton Keynes: https://goo.gl/photos/JL32TH8fvzFpiMGF7
2007 Can't remember where this was? https://goo.gl/photos/JifaZXSvKCAR6YJKA
2008 The Thistle Hotel, Birmingham https://goo.gl/photos/T2s9shewUhKeFesr6
2009 Moore Place, Aspley Guise https://goo.gl/photos/xrqEYqt2RH29q5tR9
2010 This was the year of the really bad weather (when we moved into our new home!) so the Christmas Party got cancelled.  :(
2011 Back on form at The Living Room, Milton Keynes https://goo.gl/photos/kBBkno3cnD4ZF3pr6
2012 Did we miss this year as well? I can't find any photos??
2013 Casino Party Night at the De Vere Harben hotel, Newport Pagnall https://goo.gl/photos/NuUHvkPjDtcDgStDA
2014 Was it a night at the Oscars or something at the Encore Ramada, Milton Keynes https://goo.gl/photos/uVEzvmW3uyYcZxkD6

Many thanks Ann for pulling this together. What a "glittering" evening it was ;-)

We thought the food and service in Browns was excellent. Good to see everyone - Gwyn and I had a great evening, plus we took the opportunity to do some window shopping in MK too.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas!
