Post by: boosted on April 17, 2016, 01:54:04 PM
The rx8 race car has not made it too grid...i followed on tsl timing this morning and didnt complete a lap...but showed on program qualified last. So i came but reported on tannoy oil surge into catch tank and not starting race.
Big shame.

Thanks for the related PM to me Jon - I've passed that information on to the driver of the RX-8.

You may know this already, but for the benefit of others....

Yep, he had a massive oil surge, which filled his catch can and emptied his sump  ??? As a result he spun on his own oil at Camp corner, luckily doing a 360 and not hitting the unforgiving wall on the exit  8)

He had fitted a baffle plate to his sump, but that particular design clearly didn't work. It does seem Combe, being such a high speed circuit, does tend to cause oil surge more than any other track!

Thanks Casey...the more info we gather the more we can put this issue to bed....it happened on the dyno as well....i dont think this is corner related i think its pressure within the combustion chambers leaking past seals and pressurising sumps....seems to me tobe more common on ported engines as well....all theory though.
Happen to me on straight b4 tower.
