Title: Any Body Know What It Is
Post by: scoobster on August 14, 2004, 07:46:42 AM
Just a quick question but on this FD there is a small flat box on top of the steering cowl and just wanted to know if anybody knows what it could be? Also is that an Airbag steering wheel?
(just hope the photo works hehe)

Yes that is a airbag steering wheel. As for the box it could be one of a couple of things.

It could be a boost controller or a turbo timer, these are the most common items fitted.

Cheers Mate, it\'s a photo of the inside of a 93 Type X i have just ordered and it will be loaded onto a ship this weekend:D

As you can see the airbag part of the wheel looks a little worn, if it won\'t clean up are these easy to get hold of?

Also what year did the round rear lights start at as from the photos i looked at it looked to have the round lights on the back

Sorry for all the newbie questions:(

\'96 was rear light time as i recall.....
I was given some good stuff (read better than the back to black cr4p you can buy which dont do jack once it dries out again) when my scoob dash went a bit grey & dried out which i dont mind painting on yer wheel if we meet at a meet sometime?

Cheers Si, so it might have later lights fitted Cool

Other than the 2 gauges, rear lights and what ever that is on top of the steering cowl the rest looks standard

So where do i start with the mods????:D

we talking looks or performance presuming it\'s performance most you can really do before getting ECU done, which is cunning sooner rather than later IMO is cat back & induction if so inclined. Or off course a sensible option maybe better brakes &/or suspension so you can cope with any power greedy mods at a later date....again IMO.....OH OH if it\'s a new import THE FIRST MOD you should do is stick sum nice rubber on there, goodyear eagle F1\'s are popular (discount available in wheels section) & another cunning plan is to mod the most important bit of car the driver!!!!! all IMO again but you learn from your (AKA my) mistakes & all that (http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/contrib/edoom/puppy_dog_eyes.gif)

Might even be a radar detector. Seems to be about the right size and place.

If it has a solar panel on it, it\'s a detector.

As for the first mod.... after wheel and tires... go for the exahust releaving the backpressure from the motor is where you can get some of you cheapest hp.
