I know there was a similar thread about 10 years ago but just how many FC's are left. I have an S4 EGI and led to believe there aren't many left as turbo models were more popular.I read somewhere that there's only 50 fc's registered on the road in the UK

When the club started I asked the DLVC for numbers and they sent me a spread sheet, however I quickly realised that Gen 1's and Gen 2's over lap as Mazda dealers were still selling Gen 1's in 1986 and beyond after the Gen 1 production ended,
Indeed I know of one that was registered on a J plate (1991) !!
With Mazda also themselves having no records as Mazda wasn't Mazda then, but a private franchise, all this means there's no way of knowing how many Gen 1's or Gen 2's were even sold let alone how many are left.
I was thinking more in general terms .The ones members have or know about that are used or have a chance of ever seeing the road again.And a rough estimate of model ie egi /turbo/vert
Just found an app on DVLA website.It says 75 taxed and 262 sorned.Thats Mazda Rx7s from 1986-1991.but no breakdown of models.Also just curious as to how many sorned cars will ever see the road again.The howmany are left website just gives total no of rx7s.
Yes i had look difficult to ascertain which model type and cross over years dont help.
Like the original poster I have a S4 EGI which in my case I use regularly year round. On the basis I just never see any on the roads I too have often wondered how many are still left as licenced road cars rather than track day or SORN vehicles.
Perhaps it's time to update the list....?

i own 3 :)
1 black 1989 registered egi coupe in good shape but with popped water seals sorned
1 white 1990 registered turbo2 coupe good body and engine but bad floor pan sorned
1 red 1992 registered turbo2 cab 35k miles tax and moted on the road as my second car
i plan on putting the cab away for sunny days and either welding up the white one or fitting its engine and running gear into the better condition black egi body
i miss driving the coupe and dont like using the cab when its raining

Ah, that's a shame. What state is it in - and what are your plans for it, if any?
MOT next week for mine - fingers crossed!
The egi has been sat for a few years ,and is in need of alot more TLC than I would have time for, good luck with the MOT

Well I've dealt with the only advisory from the last MOT, and have fitted new (or at least unused) headlights which coupled with Osram Nightbreakers have made night driving a positive pleasure - always nice to see where you are going!

Yes the lights will help a little ;), I remember travelling down to Le Mans in the dark and the rain not really being able to see where I was going in my EGI ???

My EGI is asleep in my garage avoiding the awful weather! currently SORN,
i've spent a lot of time chopping out rust and welding in new pieces.
i'm hoping to get it back on the road in the next couple of months! :]
My 1990 TII coupe is still in the garage and sorned :-(
